Every day, almost every American is touched by a nonprofit organization in some way, whether a loved one is treated for a health concern or uses a service that is being offered in their community. Almost all Americans make a contribution each year, and half of all Americans volunteer.
In this tough economic climate, when people are struggling to make ends meet and nonprofits are dealing with declining funding even as demand for their services are growing, it’s imperative that hard-earned dollars are not wasted and go to the organizations that are doing the most good.

Pilot Corporation of America (Pilot Pen) is once again teaming up with STOMP Out Bullying, the leading national bullying and cyberbullying prevention organization, to invite parents and students to help end the bullying epidemic through their “Erase Bullying for Good” campaign. The campaign aims to help erase bullying in U.S. schools by utilizing the funds raised from sales of the FriXion Clicker erasable gel ink pen, which allows one to “Write Fearlessly” through its smooth writing and clean erasing capabilities, to raise awareness and support STOMP Out Bullying’s educational and assistance programs. Pilot is donating a total of $125,000 to help address this serious issue that affects nearly one in four American students.
“Every year Pilot Pen strives to provide students with the best tools to tackle the school year in the form of high quality writing instruments, but after witnessing the increasing prevalence of bullying and cyberbullying in America we also want to help erase this serious issue in our schools,” said Ariann Langsam, Director of Marketing at Pilot Corporation of America. “STOMP Out Bullying’s programs are a wonderful resource for those affected by bullying and Pilot is proud to continue supporting the organization’s wonderful mission.”

When you’re a brilliant mathematician like the Baltimore Ravens’ John Urschel, a football playbook is only so challenging. So the 6-foot-3, 305-pound offensive lineman looks for mathematics in everyday life for mental stimulation, and he’s asking you to do the same. Get in the game by snapping photos of how and where you use math at school, at home, on the practice field — anywhere and everywhere – for a chance to win a $500 Amazon gift card and a video conference for your class with the professional athlete.
Kicking off August 19, in coordination with World Photo Day (#WorldPhotoDay), and running through September 17, you can show John Urschel how you use math for the win in everyday life on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtags #MathFTW and #TIContest to be entered to win. And, get creative! The gifted mathematician is seeing a lot of math these days as he pursues his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Urschel, who holds a 4.0 Grade Point Average, is all the proof students need to see they can be good at academics while pursuing other passions – from athletics to the arts.
