Motorhead started in 1975 when Lemmy Kilmister returned to London, determined to start his own band to avoid being fired again, he decided it would be called ‘Bastard,’ but management overuled and ‘Motorhead,’ a song Lemmy had written as a B-side for Hawkwind, was born. With drummer, Lucas Fox and Pink Fairies guitarist, Larry Wallis, and Lemmy on bass and vocals, Motorhead began gigging and recorded their first album, which their record company refused to release at the time, (it later emerged in 1980 as ‘On Parole’).
Today, on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, actress Megan Fox, the face of Avon Instinct fragrances, supported the Avon Foundation for Women in its launch of #SeeTheSigns, a global social media campaign that will educate the public on recognizing the signs of domestic violence. Part of the Avon Speak Out Against Domestic Violence program, #SeeTheSigns will run throughout the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence, an international human rights-based movement against gender violence and will educate bystanders and victims on the signs of domestic violence and how to safely intervene or seek help.

With the airing of Super Bowl XLVIII, 20 Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) students became the first to have a hand in designing the opening animation for FOX Sports’ broadcast of the NFL’s annual championship game. A television event that likely will be one of the top 10 most-watched programs in history, the broadcast was expected to draw an audience of more than 100 million.
The opening animation of the broadcast was set in New York’s iconic Times Square, and brought the worlds of art and football together to capture the superior athleticism of NFL players. SCAD students helped create the concept and design for the animation using assets provided by FOX Sports and by fashioning new creative elements.
