Millennium Systems International, creators of Millennium and Meevo salon & spa software, have been busy working on a new initiative to showcase the deep connections consumers have with their hairstylists. “It’s so important to bring to light and recognize the deep connections that we have with our hairstylist,” said Millennium’s Marketing Director, Jen Martinelli. “I personally have been through proms, a wedding day, my daughter and son’s first haircut; all with my hair stylist by my side.”
The campaign starts with a grassroots effort by interviewing real people and real experiences in salons. Its purpose is to bring awareness to everyone, everywhere that beauty professionals play a very significant role in all of our lives. Happy moments, sad moments, and even in moments of feeling lost or confused, hairstylists are the consistent rock making us look and feel beautiful, confident, ready to take on the world. “Confidence is everything. It can mean landing a job, or picking up the pieces after a tragedy, or fighting through an illness,” continues Jen Martinelli. “You can’t buy confidence. Beauty professionals everywhere are making our lives more beautiful… in every sense of that word.”
Millennium Systems International has released its first video of the campaign today and it’s promising to be a tearjerker for everyone. One interviewee talks about the comfort she received from her hair stylist, “when my grandson passed away, when he was seven…. and I called her.”

Five international apprentices visited global construction and mining equipment manufacturer XCMG's headquarters in Xuzhou, China for a one-week immersive XCMG Apprentice Program from January 18 to 24.
The program was the company's first time bringing global apprentices to China; five apprentices from the United States, Brazil, Russia, Kenya and Pakistan stood out from a global selection.
The participants came from different backgrounds but shared the same interest towards the construction and machinery industry. In addition to the comprehensive tour led by XCMG employees that included visits to the crane assembly factory and Asia's largest vibration and noise lab, as well as engaging activities like operating excavators, the apprentices also acted as their mentors' assistants, learning about the state-of-the-art technologies in construction machineries through a day's work.
"XCMG has a keen focus on cultivating talents and encouraging communication through educational programs like XCMG Apprentice, which has introduced XCMG's technological and innovational achievements to the international community," said Wang Min, chairman and president of XCMG.

On the eve of his 16th birthday, Greyson McCluskey from Indian Trail, North Carolina was named the national winner of Wouldn’t It Be Cool If…, a campaign jointly presented by Time Warner Cable’s philanthropic science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) initiative, Connect a Million Minds, and i.am FIRST, founded by artist, entertainer and entrepreneur will.i.am. The campaign challenged youth ages 10 – 15 to dream up the coolest idea to make their life, community or the world more awesome, and then to think about how science and math could help bring those ideas to life. Greyson McCluskey, an honor student and aspiring architect, developed his Baby Safe Rider – a mechanism for toddler car seats that would detect the onset of heightened temperatures in babies – as a way to address the rising incidents of vehicular Hyperthermia fatalities in the U.S. Greyson was inspired to create the Baby Safe Rider after the recent birth of his cousin. As announced at the 2012 White House Science Fair on February 7th, today marks the official launch of Wouldn’t It Be Cool If…, a national campaign to get more youth thinking about science and math in a fun, innovative way through an ideation competition.
Wouldn’t It Be Cool If… challenges youth ages 10-15 to dream up the coolest thing to make their life, community or even the world more awesome, and then to think about how science and math could help bring those ideas to life.
