SAIC, Inc. (NYSE: SAI) today held an Investor Day event in New York City in which the senior leadership team of the planned spin-off company, Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC), presented its business plans and financial objectives.
SAIC, Inc. previously announced plans to create two independent, publicly traded companies. The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) today released an expanded, data-rich version of its popular Hot Wheels report – its list of the 10 most stolen vehicles in the United States. The report examines vehicle theft data submitted by law enforcement to the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and determines the vehicle make, model and model year most reported stolen in 2012.
A first-edition feature is also contained in today’s report: a look at the top 25 2012 vehicle makes and models that were reported stolen in calendar year 2012.

Every 25 seconds, or 1.35 million times a year, a young athlete suffers a sports injury severe enough to go to the emergency room, according to a new research report released today by Safe Kids Worldwide.
The report, “Game Changers,” made possible with support from Johnson & Johnson, takes an in-depth look at data from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s National Electronic Injury Surveillance System (NEISS) to explore what type of injuries are sidelining young athletes.
The report also revealed that knee injuries account for one in ten sports-related injuries. Knee injuries, specifically tears to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), are disproportionately affecting young female athletes, who are up to eight times more likely to have an ACL injury than male athletes.

While common wisdom is that December is the best time to buy a car, TrueCar data shows the average price for buying a vehicle in August is more than $150 lower than any other month. Based on data provided by the California Solar Initiative (CSI), sales of new production homes with rooftop solar power systems nearly doubled from 2011 to 2012, signaling increasing home buyer demand to control monthly electricity costs using clean, renewable solar power.
An estimated 4,000 new production solar homes were built in California last year, ten times the number built just seven years ago during the housing construction boom. SunPower estimates that strong growth in the sector will continue, with more than 20 percent of new production homes being solar powered this year.
