Dennoch behielt der 34-Jährige einen kühlen Kopf und befreite die junge Mutter und ihr 15 Monate altes Kleinkind aus dem brennenden Pkw. Ohne das couragierte Zupacken des Bayern wäre der Unfall vermutlich tödlich ausgegangen. Für seinen selbstlosen Einsatz wurde Appelmann zum „Held der Straße 2012\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
