The This Old House experts are working with Los Angeles-based contractor Steve Pallrand and his design-build firm Home Front on a modest 750-sq.ft. addition, which includes a new second floor, larger kitchen, new family room, two additional baths and two more bedrooms. Throughout the renovation, the series will focus on preserving and replicating the quaint period details that make the property unique, such as the clay roof tiles, arched doorways, tray ceilings, plaster ornamentation, inlaid floors and art deco light fixtures.

Chef Leonard and his team were silver medalist winner at this years IGEHO culinary competitions, chef Leonard in the team manager of the Cercle des Chef de Cuisine de Luzern culinary team (www.cccl.ch), and together with Chef Schwarzenbach the team captain, the team claimed a silver medal awarded by the Swiss Culinary federation (www.kochverband.ch). Natural disasters that have devastated the nation this year have reminded Americans about the importance of preparedness. That was the focus of the Ad Council and FEMA’s Ready campaign created pro bono by Chicago-based advertising agency Leo Burnett. The innovative campaign earned Leo Burnett the Ad Council’s top creative award of the year – the Gold Bell for Creative Excellence. Marc Pritchard, Global Branding Officer of The Proctor and Gamble Company and Ad Council Chairman of the Board, presented the award last night at the Ad Council’s 59th Annual Public Service Award Dinner. Silver and Bronze Bells were also awarded to Havas Worldwide New York and Grey New York for their work on the Unplanned Pregnancy Prevention and Stroke Awareness campaigns, respectively.
