Many students leave the house without eating breakfast in the morning and at noon fast food restaurants and bakeries near schools enjoy the fact that they are becoming more and more popular. Robert Morris University marked its 90th anniversary Tuesday evening during a celebration at its new School of Business complex, the centerpiece of a $40 million fundraising campaign.
Robert Morris was founded on Sept. 21, 1921, in downtown Pittsburgh as the Pittsburgh School of Accountancy. The new 18,000-square-foot School of Business complex, which includes The PNC Trading Center, The United States Steel Corporation Video Conferencing and Technology Center, and The ATI Center, gives the university’s business school its first official home at its suburban Pittsburgh campus.

“I grew up in Graham, North Carolina. My parents both worked for the textile mills, both had fourth grade educations and my mom always wanted me to get an education. When I graduated from high school it was my dream to go to college. I failed the first class of my life which was my chemistry class. I was just overwhelmed so I left after about a year and half, got a job and kept trying to go back to school. For me it was personally devastating. It really bothered me. I felt like I was failing. I had one shot and I blew it.
When Jenna left for boarding school I couldn’t even open the door and go in the room and I was almost 52. All of that coincided with the downturn of the market. I had almost $6 million dollars in contracts waiting to close and they all fell through—every single one of them. I thought, ‘now what? “I had my undergraduate degree in international business for just about seven years and I have always wanted to get my master’s degree. “When I decided to come back to school and pursue my bachelor’s degree I did have a fear of how I was going to fit the studies into my schedule. Last night, in the quintessentially British setting of the Royal Ballet School in Richmond Park, Land Rover revealed the All-New Range Rover, the fourth generation of the world’s most capable and luxurious SUV.

A business school alumnus has cycled over 16,000 km from Shanghai to London, to raise money for a children’s charity.
Matthieu Liard, a graduate of the CEMS Master’s in International Management programme and HEC Alumnus began the mammoth journey in March this year. Along with friend Oli Goulden, he cycled through 16 countries, four deserts and three mountain ranges.

Globally, 1.2 billion people have no access to electricity. On the occasion of VELUX 75th anniversary the company decided to address this issue. Together with the social business Little Sun and the NGO Plan International they are collaborating to bring clean, reliable and affordable light to off-grid regions in Zambia, Sierra Leone and Zimbabwe.
14,500 Natural Light lamps from the VELUX Group have now arrived in Africa and the first recipients can already look forward to a better quality of life.
Among them are young girls between 10 and 18 years of age who live in a safe house in the slum area Mntendere in the Zambian capital Lusaka.
"The lamps mean the girls can do their homework when they get back from school and can feel safer at night, instead of huddling together in the dark after sunset. And it’s particularly important for our children that they feel safe – many are carrying the mental baggage such as the trauma of violence, rape or drugs," says safe house manager Verann Delarey.
