The Tory Burch Foundation today announced the launch of a global campaign, #EmbraceAmbition, to encourage women to embrace ambition. The initiative kicks off today to coincide with International Women’s Day. Inspired by Tory’s personal experience as a woman and entrepreneur, the campaign aims to address the double standard that exists around ambition, which is often seen as a great attribute in men and as a negative one in women.
A cornerstone of the campaign is a video PSA celebrating ambition, created with Laird+Partners. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today that it is seeking applicants for its Youth Preparedness Council. FEMA’s Youth Preparedness Council was formed in 2012 to bring together teens from across the country who are interested and engaged in advocating for preparedness. Council members are selected based on their dedication to public service, efforts in making a difference in their communities, and potential to expand their impact as national advocates for preparedness. Students in 8th through 11th grade are eligible to apply.

The USGA and The R&A have unveiled a preview of proposed new Rules of Golf, as part of a joint initiative to modernize the Rules and make them easier to understand and apply.
The online release of this preview begins a six-month feedback and evaluation period during which all golfers worldwide can learn about the proposed changes and provide input before they are finalized in 2018 and take effect January 1, 2019.
The announcement follows a comprehensive review process that began in 2012 with a working group of key USGA and R&A Rules administrators, professional tour officials and other Rules experts. While the Rules are revised every four years, this is the first fundamental review since 1984, and was established to ensure the Rules fit the needs of today’s game and the way it is played around the world.

Today on Rare Disease Day, My Life, Our Future, a national program founded by leaders in the bleeding disorder community, including Bloodworks Northwest, the American Thrombosis and Hemostasis Network, the National Hemophilia Foundation and Bioverativ Inc., opened the largest research repository of its kind in the world to scientists. The My Life, Our Future Research Repository is a collection of genetic data and blood samples that are linked to phenotypic data from more than 5,000 people in the U.S. with hemophilia, a rare disorder that impairs the ability of one’s blood to clot. The My Life, Our Future Research Repository will allow researchers to advance the scientific understanding of the disorder, including genetic differences that affect bleeding severity and reaction to certain treatments.
