Hunova, the first robotic gym for the rehabilitation and functional motor sense evaluation of lower limbs and trunk, has been officially launched in Genoa, Italy. The first 30 robots will be available from June in Europe and the USA. The technology was developed and patented at the IIT laboratories and has been launched on the market thanks to a 10 million euro investment from entrepreneur Sergio Dompè. Hunova is a programmable robotic medical device that allows professionals in the geriatrics, neurology and sport rehabilitation field to cure and predict many neurological and orthopedic conditions. There are two main competitive advantages of this technology: Hunova is able to collect a significant amount of data on biomechanics, constantly monitoring the patient’s progress. Secondly, it provides direct support to the patient through a guiding robotic system, offering a wide range of rehabilitation protocols in the form of video games. It consists of two electromechanical platforms equipped with sensors, characterized by two degrees of freedom (feet and seat level). The device integrates the force sensors to adjust the interaction with the patient and a wireless sensor, which is placed on the patient’s trunk, allowing the physiotherapist to check the movement of the torso. While January 1 is the traditional day millions announce their New Year’s Resolutions, research shows only 8% of Americans achieve success. For the fifth year, Life Time, is aiming to help people rethink resolutions and instead make a true, internal commitment to themselves to living a healthy way of life by participating in the Commitment Day 5K Fun Run and Walk. Held at more than 40 Life Time destinations across the U.S. and Canada, Commitment Day empowers individuals, families and communities to start the year on the right foot by marking their pledge with action toward a year of better health. New for 2017, a Virtual 5K is available for anyone in North America to join in. All participants will receive a race bib and commemorative Commitment Day tee shirt. Registration, locations and pricing details are available at www.CommitmentDay.com. Commitment Weekend kicks off on Friday, Dec. 30 and continues through Monday, Jan. 2, when Life Time will open its doors to everyone – whether a member or not. During each of the four days, Life Time’s 122 destinations will feature a variety of health and fitness experiences and activities for all ages. In addition to the 5K Fun Run and Walk on Jan. 1, people can take part in unique-to-Life Time group fitness, indoor cycle and yoga classes such as Strike, Amp Cycle and Warrior Sculpt, as well as Alpha Training. Life Time’s indoor aquatic centers, basketball courts, rock walls and tennis, racquetball and squash courts will all be open with club-specific programming to help men, women and kids make their commitment even easier by doing activities they love or trying new things that will inspire them in the coming year. Spending 30 minutes on a treadmill or an elliptical machine a few times each week is not the key to a healthy lifestyle. What’s more important is getting out of your chair, or off the couch, and moving throughout the day – preferably at least once an hour. That’s the logic behind Anytime Fitness’ new “Every Step Counts” campaign – which features reserved parking spots for its members as far away as possible from the gym, in the far corners of the parking lot. “We care what you do outside the gym every bit as much as when you’re inside one of our facilities,” said Chuck Runyon, CEO and co-founder of Anytime Fitness. “Three hours of rigorous exercise a week is great. But what you do during the other 165 hours each week will really determine whether you’re healthy or not. If you sit in a chair and stare at a computer screen for eight hours a day, without moving every hour or so, then research* shows you’re much more likely to develop a long list of preventable chronic diseases. Sitting too much is the new smoking.” To view the multimedia release go to: http://www.multivu.com/players/English/7942951-anytime-fitness-every-step-counts/

Other gyms and fitness centers may be more well-known, but you’d probably never guess which fitness chain has been the fastest-growing in the world for 10 years in a row. Averaging more than 300 new gyms a year for the last decade, Anytime Fitness is the undisputed champ, according to the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association (IHRSA). In fact, Anytime Fitness was recently referred to as the “fastest-growing fitness franchise of all time” in an article posted on Inc.com. “We built the franchise by focusing on convenience, affordability and a friendly, supportive atmosphere,” said Chuck Runyon, the CEO and a co-founder of Anytime Fitness. “That will never change. But we’ve sustained and, in many areas, accelerated our growth by expanding our programming and benefits for members. Specifically, our new group training sessions and our mobile app – which serves as a personal trainer in your pocket – have been wildly popular and will contribute to our future growth.” To view the multimedia release go to: https://www.multivu.com/players/English/7942953-anytime-fitness-is-fastest-growing-gym-for-10-years/
