Seattle – The EMP Museum board of directors announced today that EMP is now the Museum of Pop Culture – MoPOP. The name MoPOP better reflects the museum’s vision for curating, exploring, and supporting creative works that shape and inspire our lives across many aspects of our culture. The museum will launch the new name on November 19, 2016 with a celebration that is free and open to the public.
“MoPOP reflects who we are today and the future of the museum,” said Patty Isacson Sabee, CEO and director of MoPOP. “Pop culture is a platform that resonates with audiences in a powerful way. And at MoPOP we provide avenues through our exhibits and programs for people to explore, learn, create, and celebrate pop culture in all of its diversity.” Founded by Paul G. The Polynesian Cultural Center is inviting guests to experience the allure and adventure of ocean life through its newest water show, Huki, which made its debut on August 18.
The canoe celebration, staged at the state’s only water performance venue, explores Polynesian myths and customs, inspiring ancient history, and beloved island songs.
Huki replaces the previous afternoon canoe pageant, Rainbows of Paradise, that had entertained residents and visitors for the past 16 years.
“We are excited to share with our guests, a brand-new canoe celebration at the Polynesian Cultural Center,” said Alfred Grace, CEO and president of the Polynesian Cultural Center. “Our team has been working tirelessly to ensure that Huki’s story authentically captures the unique history and folklore of Polynesia and that our facilities are renovated and reinvigorated to ensure that the experience is elevated for all of our guests.”

Clayton, one of the largest home builders in America, helped fulfill the dreams of an East Tennessee Children’s Hospital cancer patient by giving him the opportunity to design a Clayton home using CAD software commonly used at home building facilities.
Jake Clark, 16, became an honorary member of the Clayton team on Nov. 22 during a special ‘Team Jake’ celebration event at a home building facility in Bean Station, Tenn. His interests in construction projects with his dad, a home contractor, and his talents in drawing and 3D design made Jake the perfect fit to visit Clayton. While visiting the home building facility, the cancer survivor sat with a home designer and created a home model floor plan of his own, which was named “The Jake” in his honor.
