Clayton, one of the largest home builders in America, helped fulfill the dreams of an East Tennessee Children’s Hospital cancer patient by giving him the opportunity to design a Clayton home using CAD software commonly used at home building facilities. Jake Clark, 16, became an honorary member of the Clayton team on Nov. 22 during a special ‘Team Jake’ celebration event at a home building facility in Bean Station, Tenn. His interests in construction projects with his dad, a home contractor, and his talents in drawing and 3D design made Jake the perfect fit to visit Clayton. While visiting the home building facility, the cancer survivor sat with a home designer and created a home model floor plan of his own, which was named “The Jake” in his honor. Tuthill announced Fill-Rite nextec™ Intelligence, a first-of-its-kind, smart fuel transfer pump technology that optimizes the fueling of fleet, construction and agricultural equipment. “Up until now, pumping large volumes of fuel, filling large tanks or a number of vehicles meant you had to stop the pump every 30 minutes to let it cool down. Now, with nextec™ Intelligence, the pump self-manages to maintain optimum performance and continuous operation,” said Tom Carmazzi, Tuthill CEO. “With nextec™ Intelligence in their pumps, fuel operators have advanced technology that predicts, protects and performs.” Fill-Rite’s initial offering of pumps with nextec™ Intelligence are available now and include pump only (NX3204) and pump, hose and ultra-high flow nozzle (NX3210B). According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the percentage of construction industry deaths from falls has continued to rise, and currently stands at 38.8%. This means that out of 937 total deaths in the construction industry, 364 of them were caused by a fall. And that is just one of the many reasons why global safety equipment manufacturer MSA Safety Incorporated (NYSE: MSA) will host fall protection demonstrations throughout the U.S. May 8-12, 2017 during OSHA’s National Safety Stand-Down. MSA is proud to participate in OSHA’s Safety Stand-Down, which is now in its fourth year, to remind and educate employers and workers in the construction industry about the serious dangers of falls and injuries due to falling objects. Honeywell (NYSE: HON) announced today that the same Spectra® fiber technology used in protective vests for law enforcement is now available to shield the belongings of everyday consumers from thieves who slash bags to steal items.
