Christina Nicols, senior vice president and director of strategic planning and research at Hager Sharp, was named the Washington Women in Public Relations’ (WWPR) 2015 Washington PR Woman of the Year Friday in a ceremony honoring top public relations executives and celebrating women in communications. Nicols was one of three public relations professionals chosen as an honoree for the 26th annual award. The other finalists were Carrie Fox, president of C. Fox Communications, and Lisa Throckmorton, chief operations officer at SpeakerBox Communications. In celebration of General Mills’ commitment to removing artificial flavors and colors from artificial sources from all of its cereals, the company is rolling out a three-week open casting call to find one real rabbit to be featured as the honorary face of Trix. Pet bunnies from across the country could be the #RealTrixRabbit and appear on limited run boxes in the winner’s hometown. From real rabbits to pets in bunny costumes, kids, parents and family members are invited to snap pictures or take videos of their furry friends– and upload them to the www.RealTrixRabbit.com. Applicants can also scope out the competition and follow the journey to find the Real Trix Rabbit by following #RealTrixRabbit on social media from October 19, 2015 to November 8, 2015. While the iconic Trix Rabbit isn’t going anywhere, Trix is removing artificial flavors and colors from artificial sources. Over 50 PR agencies and in-house PR departments came together to witness the first PR Pressure conference, which took place on Wednesday, 25 May 2016, at the Dusit Thani, Dubai. The event, organised by Secret PR, marks the first of an annual series of conferences that address the struggles faced by PR professionals in the Middle East. Chiasma, Inc., a U.S. privately–held biopharma company developing octreotide capsules for the orphan condition acromegaly, today announced two new studies presented at the 97th Endocrine Society (ENDO) Annual Meeting in San Diego, Calif. Last night (Wednesday, Dec. 6), the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) debuted the first and only destination virtual reality art program, Vegas: Alter Your Reality (VAYR). The event took place at Wynwood’s Zadok Gallery during Miami Art Week with The Venetian Las Vegas. The nation’s largest provider of senior living solutions is offering tips for those who are concerned about showing signs of memory loss. These guidelines come along with Alzheimer’s Awareness month, celebrated each year in November. “Here at Brookdale, we have a simple formula for people who may be worried about memory loss as it relates to Alzheimer’s and dementia, whether for themselves or for a loved one,” said Kelly Scott Lindstrom, Vice President of Dementia Care for Brookdale. According to Lindstrom, three steps can help a person prepare for a potential Alzheimer’s diagnosis. First, know the signs of Alzheimer’s disease. There are 10 common signs, and just because an individual may exhibit a couple of them doesn’t mean he or she has developed dementia. Next, talk with your doctor, and he or she can help decipher a potential diagnosis of Alzheimer’s or if it is something unrelated.
