Three dentists and two hygienists from Aspen Dental offices volunteered their time and talents in Haiti earlier this month (Nov. 4-9), providing free dental care in a country where there is just a single dentist for every 100,000 people.
The team – – based in the town of Jacmel, three hours from Haiti’s capital of Port au Prince – – provided vital oral care in a neighborhood clinic in conjunction with Restore Haiti.

National blood stocks have fallen by 7% over the jubilee weekend according to latest figures from NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) which today launches its annual awareness campaign, National Blood Week, to urge the public to donate blood.
During the National Blood Week recruitment drive additional appointments have been created and selected blood donor sessions have extended opening hours to give donors more flexibility to schedule a visit. Regional recruitment events will also be driving awareness and enabling people to sign up.
To launch the 2012 National Blood Week, Made In Chelsea’s Rosie Fortescue has rolled her sleeves up to recreate the heroic ‘Rosie the Riveter’ WWII poster and issue a rallying cry for new and existing blood donors to come forward. Rosie Fortescue, who shares her name with the 1940s poster girl, said: “This woman clearly knew how to get things done, and I feel honoured to become a modern day campaigner for the national blood stock build. More than 7,550 women from around the world took part in the race—the largest women’s-only half-marathon in the country—established by More and Fitness magazines in partnership with New York Road Runners. Sweeney and Brzezinski both participated in the race for the first time and crossed the finish line within two hours before a cheering crowd of 16,000; Sweeney finished in 1:59:50 and Brzezinski finished in 1:49:19.
