Según Feeding America, la mayor organización doméstica para el alivio del hambre en todo el país, la leche es uno de los artículos más solicitados por las personas que acuden a los bancos de alimentos, sin embargo existe una escasez en todo el país ya que muy pocas veces se recibe como donación . Esta situación cambiará muy pronto con el lanzamiento hoy de Proyecto Alimento: Leche para América –The Great American Milk Drive- el primer programa nacional que ayudará a entregar galones de la altamente deseada y rica en nutrientes leche a las familias que padecen hambre y que tanto la necesitan.
