18 Teams, die sich in ihren Heimatländern bereits mit einem leichten Gasfuß als beste Spritsparer durchgesetzt hatten, fuhren jetzt an der Westküste der USA um den Word-Champion-Titel. Genau 647 Kilometer quer durch Kalifornien auf einem Kurs mit unterschiedlichem Streckenprofil. Von Stadtdurchfahrten bis hin zum kurvigen Pacific Coast Highway war alles dabei. Die Teilnehmer starteten mit identischen VW Jetta Hybrid. Eine ideale Voraussetzung für beeindruckende Verbrauchsergebnisse möchte man meinen, gehört das Fahrzeug von Hause aus doch zu den sparsamsten Autos. Gewinnen konnte jedoch nur, wer das Potenzial der Hybridtechnik für sich auch zu nutzen wusste und möglichst viele Kilometer mit elektrischer Zuarbeit zurücklegte.

Das sind noch einmal 6,1 Milliarden mehr als im Vorjahr und damit das beste Ergebnis in der Unternehmensgeschichte.Trotz der allgegenwärtigen Krisenstimmung konnte der VW-Konzern zum Teil erhebliche Marktanteile hinzugewinnen. In China waren es noch einmal 25 Prozent, in den USA 34 Prozent und in Russland sogar 41 Prozent Zuwachs.Trotz aller Hindernisse ist Volkswagen weiterhin im Plan, um, wie geplant, 2018 an die Weltspitze zu gelangen. Nach eigenem Bekunden wollen die Wolfsburger aber nicht nur in Sachen Zulassungen und Umsatz weltweit die Nummer eins werden. Der VW-Konzern will bis zum Jahr 2018 als der stärkste, fairste und ökologischste Autobauer gelten.

The Fluke VT02 Visual Infrared Thermometer, a troubleshooting camera with an infrared heat map, fills the gap for when a single-spot temperature reading isn’t enough and a high-resolution thermal image is more than users need. One tool combines the visual insight of a thermal imager, the visual images of a digital camera, and the point-and-shoot convenience of an IR (infrared) thermometer.
For decades, drivers have been accustomed to accessing and driving cars with physical keys. But no longer. In a ground-breaking move for the automotive industry, Volvo Cars plans to become the world’s first car manufacturer to offer cars without keys from 2017.
Volvo customers will be offered an application for their mobile phones to replace the physical key with a digital key. The innovative Bluetooth-enabled digital key technology, will offer Volvo customers far more flexibility, enabling them to benefit from entirely new ways to use and share cars.
The new Volvo app enables the digital key on the customer’s mobile phone to do everything a physical key currently does, such as locking or unlocking the doors or the boot and allowing the engine to be started.
This new technology will also offer customers the possibility to receive more than one digital key on their app allowing them to access different Volvo cars in different locations – according to their changing mobility needs.

Volvo Cars has revealed performance-inspired R-Design models of the new S90 sedan and V90 estate.
Central to the S90 and V90 R-Design is an advanced sport chassis that delivers an energetic, road-hugging drive.
