Last night, TV host Andy Cohen, a foodie in his own right, joined fellow food aficionados to launch Snack Week, a week-long celebration of snacking and the launch pad for the new Hillshire® Snacking brand of premium snacks.
Snack Week kicked off with a VIP launch event, co-hosted by Cohen and other culinary experts, including Chef Dale Talde of “Talde” restaurants, New York mixologist Julie Reiner and two top food bloggers. Volvo Cars has chosen the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit to launch its new signature premium sedan, the S90, underscoring its long term commitment to the U.S. market and providing a clear sign of its confidence in continued sales growth in the coming year.
Volvo sales in the U.S. increased 24.3 per cent in 2015, with an especially strong performance at the end of the year with sales rising 87 per cent in October, 90 per cent in November and 89.9 per cent in December, driven by continued strong sales of the XC60 crossover and the new XC90 SUV.
“There are strong indications that Volvo is back on track in the U.S.,” said Lex Kerssemakers, Senior Vice President of the Americas at Volvo Car Group. “We expect this strong sales momentum to continue in 2016, helped by the new S90.”
The launch of the S90 highlights the ambition of the Swedish car maker, following an $11bn investment and the recent breaking of ground in Charleston, South Carolina, where Volvo Cars will build its first American production facility, employing around 2,000 workers.

A smart musician will always keep a secret stash of songs tucked away for when he needs them and this little gem was one of my first attempts at composing Electronic Dance music back around 2006 which means that this 10 year old song will be my first upload for 2016. What I loved about this song was that I had no idea as to what I was doing being that I had never composed a song like it before. Al Maryah Island in Abu Dhabi was a beacon of celebration this New Year’s Eve after playing host to a spectacular firework display, which lit up the sky of the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) capital at midnight.
More than 8,000 visitors descended on Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi’s business and lifestyle destination, to see in 2016. They enjoyed an unforgettable night of family fun and entertainment, which saw live performances from DJs and musical acts, Zeina Aftimos and Hamami Trio. Thousands of fireworks were launched from buildings in Abu Dhabi Global Market Square, the commercial heart of Abu Dhabi's international financial center, and barges in the Arabian Gulf.
Visitors were virtually connected to festivities from around the world, with live footage being displayed on a variety of screens, and an interactive earth globe that lit up when a new country welcomed in the New Year in its time zone. An assortment of festive food trucks, shopping and casual dining at The Galleria, five star feasts at Rosewood Abu Dhabi, a Winter Fair and a dedicated Kid’s zone, were also enjoyed throughout the night.

For negotiators at the Paris climate conference (COP21) to successfully advance global efforts to reduce carbon emissions, nations must embrace a prominent role for nuclear energy.
The Obama administration highlighted the crucial role of nuclear energy when it convened a White House Summit on Nuclear Energy earlier this month. “As America leads the global transition to a low-carbon economy, the continued development of new and advanced nuclear technologies along with support for currently operating nuclear power plants is an important component of our clean energy strategy,” a White House fact sheet developed for the summit states. Many environmentalists are also giving nuclear energy a second look, as they seek practical solutions to constrain carbon emissions.
Nuclear energy facilities provide 63 percent of America’s zero-carbon electricity. Globally, nuclear power plants provide one-third of all zero-carbon electricity. One of nuclear energy’s major advantages relative to other low-carbon energy sources is its unique ability to produce large-scale electricity around-the-clock in extreme weather conditions. Nuclear energy facilities don’t rely on the wind blowing, the sun shining, or just-in-time deliveries of fuel by truck, barge, rail or pipeline. In 2014, the U.S. nuclear energy industry’s average capacity factor—a common measure of efficiency and reliability—was 92 percent.
