The Smithsonian's National Museum of American History will open a new exhibition on American business July 1 in the Mars Hall of American Business. The exhibition, “American Enterprise” will have a strong focus on the nation's agriculture history which is one of four economic sectors in the exhibition. It will explore precision farming, environmental concerns and hybrid seeds. “American agriculture has gone through a tremendous transformation in the past seven decades, becoming a high-tech industry, deeply affecting not just farmers themselves but every American and the American experience in general,” said Peter Liebhold, museum curator and chair of the Division of Work and Industry. With farm-to-table foods, markets and restaurants popping up everywhere, it’s no surprise more than three-quarters of moms are actively looking for locally sourced options when grocery shopping for themselves and their families, according to a new survey from the National Milk Life Campaign.1 As one of the original farm-to-table foods, milk often originates from dairy farms about 300 miles away from your grocery store2, and typically arrives in just 48 hours, on average, from many family-owned and operated dairy farms. Yet 77 percent of moms surveyed didn’t realize how far their milk typically travels from farm to glass. Moms may also have misconceptions about what happens after milk leaves the farm, including what is added to the farm-fresh beverage before it goes to consumers. More than one-third incorrectly believe preservatives are added to milk, and nearly 18 percent think sugar is added. In reality, milk is remarkably simple and contains just three ingredients – milk, vitamin A and vitamin D – and no added sugar. Another third of moms didn’t know that pasteurization is the process that kills bacteria – extending milk’s shelf life and keeping it fresher for longer, ensuring it’s safe to drink. Nespresso has revealed a humorous behind-the-scenes video showing new leading man Jack Black receiving guidance from the ever smooth George Clooney as they filmed the latest TV commercial entitled Epiphany. The advert explores the concept of ‘What Else?’, provoking viewers to consider the unique Nespresso qualities that are incomparable. ‘What Else?’ encapsulates all of the elements that create the ultimate coffee experience - everything from the unique approach to sustainable coffee, unparalleled coffee quality through to the unsurpassed coffee expertise, stylish boutiques, innovative services and more. Filmed in Lake Como, Italy, the advert shows George Clooney pouring himself a cup of Nespresso coffee. Just as the coffee is ready, it is taken by Jack Black who attempts to win a female’s affections by trying to use George’s infamous ‘What Else?’ phrase. Oblivious, Jack gets the phrase wrong and George steps in to educate him. Later, Jack experiences a moment of epiphany as the meaning of ‘What Else?’ dawns on him.
