To coincide with the start of a new school year and Attendance Awareness Month, the Ad Council and U.S. Army are releasing a series of new public service advertisements (PSAs) addressing the importance of regular school attendance in middle school in order for students to stay on course to graduate high school. Created pro bono by Publicis Kaplan Thaler, the PSAs illustrate the fact that every absence, in any grade, excused or not, can negatively impact a child’s academic achievement and put their high school graduation at risk. To help parents keep track, two tools are being offered on the campaign website: a “Text2Track” mobile SMS program and a redesigned Attendance Calculator. As 2015 starts to wind down, Americans are already starting to make travel plans for 2016. But what are Americans–particularly Baby Boomers–looking for in their 2016 vacations? A new survey released today from AARP Travel (http://travel.aarp.org), a valuable resource for America's 76 million Baby Boomers who spend over $120 billion annually in leisure travel, provides some great insight into how Americans want to get away in 2016, from desired destinations to lodging options to favorite trip planning tools. “The vast majority of Baby Boomers are planning to drive, fly or set sail on leisure trips in 2016, with an average of 4 or 5 trips already in the works,” said Stephanie Miles, VP, Products & Platforms, AARP. “Boomers make up a large segment of the traveling public, and so it's particularly important for the travel industry to be aware of what Boomers are looking for in their vacations going into 2016. This new survey finds that their travel desires often differ greatly from younger travelers.” To view the multimedia release go to: http://www.multivu.com/players/English/7488431-aarp-travel/

Nearly three in four American voters (74 percent) favor increasing federal funding for cancer research, according to the results of a new national survey conducted on behalf of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). The survey results were released today in conjunction with the AACR’s fifth annual Cancer Progress Report. The report highlights how federally funded research can power progress against cancer and urges Congress and the administration to implement a strategy for providing annual budget increases of at least 7 percent for the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Cancer Institute (NCI), and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in fiscal year 2016 and thereafter. The national survey, which was conducted by Hart Research Associates and Public Opinion Strategies, shows that five out of every six voters recognize what the AACR Cancer Progress Report 2015 details: that progress is being made against cancer. Hands-free technologies might make it easier for motorists to text, talk on the phone, or even use Facebook while they drive, but new findings from the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety show dangerous mental distractions exist even when drivers keep their hands on the wheel and their eyes on the road. The research found that as mental workload and distractions increase reaction time slows, brain function is compromised, drivers scan the road less and miss visual cues, potentially resulting in drivers not seeing items right in front of them including stop signs and pedestrians. This is the most comprehensive study of its kind to look at the mental distraction of drivers and arms AAA with evidence to appeal to the public to not use these voice-to-text features while their vehicle is in motion. Zhang Xinyuan, born in Wuhan, Hubei Province, graduated from the Central Academy of Drama in 2012, BA of performance. In 2008, her self-made images ignited online communities in China. Heavy-eyebrowed and flame-lipped, but also chaste and ethereal, her images are both polarized and harmonious, no wonder they received so explosive acclaiming and spreading. From then on, Zhang Xinyuan becomes a fashion icon and favored by various media and industries, her images even initiated a tide of retro-styling in the youths of China. Instead of stopping on that, Miss Zhang keeps on sharpening her art language by the grindstones of her unique aesthetic taste, say-no-to-vulgarity attitude, and oriental wisdom. With the love to public art, Miss Zhang has crossover-cooperated with various artists and stylists, and become a rising star of arts, which made her the cover star of I-D, a famous British fashion magazine, in Mar.2012. The next month,Apr.2012, her high-profile photo album Girlfriend On The Cliff became the top one seller in the Amazon list of photographic books, and one of the best-sellers of Motie Company, who has published this book. Sold out in various online shopping sites, Dream Raider studio and Motie Company printed other batches of copies, all of which had been sold out now.

More than half a million public school students from the class of 2010 scored a 3 or higher on at least one AP® Exam during high school, nearly double the number of successful students from the class of 2001, and exceeding the total number of students from the class of 2001 who took AP Exams (see Figure 1). As research consistently shows that students who score a 3 or higher on AP Exams typically experience stronger college outcomes than otherwise comparable non-AP peers, the data in this year’s report show how educators are enhancing the college readiness of our nation’s students by preparing them to take AP classes and succeed on AP Exams.
