This season, the House of Givenchy, under the initiative of Artistic Director Riccardo Tisci, is bringing an exceptional collection to New York, as the city represents the capital of the American dream for the designer and for the founder Hubert de Givenchy, who were both supported from the very beginning by the American market.
On September 11th 2015, New York hosted a performance show dedicated to love and sharing. With a décor of recycled materials installed on the banks of the Hudson in Tribeca, there was an unprecedented audience in attendance: professionals from the fashion world rubbed shoulders with celebrities, fashion-school students, winners of a competition organized in partnership with the city, and local residents from the neighbourhood.
The website givenchy.com and giant screens installed across the city, from Soho to Times Square, also broadcast the show live, while advertising buses made their way across the Bronx, Harlem, and Queens inviting a wide a number as possible to follow the event.
With Marina Abramović, a friend of the House and co-author of numerous artistic projects, Riccardo Tisci created a performance which reached beyond the scope of fashion. Designed to be an emotional experience focusing on universal themes (love, peace, freedom, humility, spirituality), it notably put the spotlight on four artists who performed spiritual and cultural chants from across the world. True to form, Marina Abramović also invited seven artists to host live performances on the show's location.

In the wake of the horrific winter wildfires in Gatlinburg and the surrounding area, thousands of residents were displaced, many of whom lost their homes. Clayton, one of the nation’s largest builders of manufactured and modular homes, has helped one family in their efforts to recover from the tragedy by guiding them through their home buying process and delivering a new home to the family less than two months after the wildfires destroyed their old home.
Clayton produced a video highlighting the plight of Sandra and Trevor Cates, whose original Clayton home was destroyed in the fires. In the video, the Cates discuss the night of Nov. 28, when the fire took their home and many of the buildings in the Gatlinburg area. The family discusses evacuating Gatlinburg, how organizations and volunteers rallied to help support victims of the fires and the process for getting into a new home through a local Clayton home center.

Harbor Shores, Lake Michigan’s resort destination and waterfront community in Benton Harbor and St. Joseph, Michigan, today announced plans for the opening of its seventh and largest neighborhood, Harbor Village. As brain health becomes an ever greater concern for people of all ages, the nation’s largest senior living provider is now guiding its residents on developing and putting into practice personalized brain health plans. Brookdale devised the new resident program with the help of a neuropsychologist specializing in brain health. The company is putting it into place at its independent and assisted living communities across the country.
Through the new initiative, Brookdale’s residents will be offered a four-session course that explains key factors in brain health through classroom learning and hands-on activities. Each participant will be guided on creating an individual brain health plan to use on a daily basis. The course was developed with the assistance of Dr. Paul Nussbaum, who is Board Certified in clinical and geropsychology with a specialty in neuropsychology. An adjunct professor of neurological surgery at the University of Pittsburgh, he is the author of “Save Your Brain.”

Wildfires are a serious risk to property and lives in every state in the country. Last year alone the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) reported there were 63,212 fires in the U.S. and Puerto Rico that burned 3,595,613 million acres – that’s roughly the size of Connecticut! The best lumberjack athletes in the country return to Milwaukee from July 27 to 29 to thrill fans with amazing athletic performances in the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® Series Championships. The competitions, presented by STIHL and sponsored by John Deere, Duluth Trading Company, and Harley-Davidson, will feature the U.S. Collegiate, Men’s Professional, and Women’s Professional Championships. For the second straight year, German Fest Milwaukee will host the event. A record 15,000 fans attended the 2017 U.S. Championships and another record crowd is expected this year.
“Having the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® U.S. Championships return to German Fest is huge for us.
