New York City looks a little greener these days thanks in part to biodiesel. This renewable, soy-based fuel powers Big Apple vehicles, furnaces and generators year-round and can be found throughout the city from Central Park to John F. Kennedy Airport.
The New York Parks Department uses a B20 blend of biodiesel when fueling diesel vehicles and generators, as well as replacing the oil heat for warming their buildings. The department has used strictly B20 in these applications for nearly two and a half years.

Volvo Car Corporation is now ramping up production of the new Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid. After the initial batch of 1,000 model year 2013 cars, production will increase to 4,000–6,000 cars as of model year 2014.
The assembly of the world’s first diesel plug-in hybrid has been successfully integrated on the same line as the company’s other models at the Torslanda plant in Gothenburg.

SEAT hat nicht nur einen neuen Toledo, sondern auch einen neuen Slogan „Enjoyneering“. Die neue Kompaktklassen-Limousine soll bei Autokäufern für die Entwicklung von Freude sorgen, die ein günstiges und praktisches Auto suchen. Das beginnt schon beim Platzangebot. Obwohl der Toledo wie eine Stufenheck-Limousine wirkt, hat er keine herkömmliche Kofferraum-Klappe. Diese ist wie bei einem Fließheck über der Heckscheibe am Dach angeschlagen und gibt so eine große Öffnung ins Ladeabteil frei. 550 Liter lassen sich so bequem verstauen. Doch nicht nur beim Laderaum kann der neue Toledo überzeugen. Viel Platz im Innenraum bietet er dank 2,60 Meter Radstand auch auf der Rücksitzbank. Weil der Innenraum recht hoch ausgefallen ist, fühlen sich auch Mitfahrer über 1,80 Meter kommod untergebracht. Die Benzinmotoren-Palette reicht von 75 bis 122 PS, dazu gesellt sich ein Diesel, der 105 PS leistet.

Tuthill announced Fill-Rite nextec™ Intelligence, a first-of-its-kind, smart fuel transfer pump technology that optimizes the fueling of fleet, construction and agricultural equipment.
“Up until now, pumping large volumes of fuel, filling large tanks or a number of vehicles meant you had to stop the pump every 30 minutes to let it cool down. Die ersten reinen Golf-Stromer sind Im Volkswagen Werk Wolfsburg vor einigen Tagen von der Montagelinie gerollt, im Sommer werden wir die ersten e-Golf dann auf unseren Straßen sehen. VW schließt damit als erster Autohersteller einen Kreis, der - innerhalb einer Baureihe - alle heute relevanten Antriebssysteme - Benziner und Diesel, Erdgas-Variante, Plug-in-Hybrid (GTE) und reiner Elektroantrieb - beinhaltet. Der potentielle Käufer hat also die Qual der Wahl, wobei der neue Stromer es am schwersten haben dürfte. 34.900 Euro sind schließlich ein Wort und auch die noch mangelhafte Ladestationen-Infrastruktur dürfte sich auf die Verkaufslust auswirken. Daran ändert auch nichts, dass der Stromer mit seinem niedrigen Verbrauchswert von 12,7 kWh/100 km mit den Energiekosten knausert und damit im Alltag den Geldbeutel schont - pro 100 Kilometer fallen lediglich 3,28 Euro an. Nach VW-Angaben ist der e-Golf damit auch dank eines besonders...
Im Jahr 1982 erblickte der erste Golf GTD das Licht der Welt. Der erste Gran Tourismo Diesel, was das Namenskürzel eigentlich bedeutet, war weitestgehend ein Golf GTI, allerdings mit einem Selbstzünder unter der Haube. Trotz der im Vergleich zum aktuellen GTD mager anmutenden 70 Turbo-Diesel-Pferde, war der erste GTD damals so etwas wie die Sportskanone unter den Dieseln. Das lag zum einen am straffen Fahrwerk, zum anderen am geringen Gewicht. Rund 900 Kilogramm brachte das zierlich wirkende Auto damals auf die Waage. Der aktuelle GTD lässt bei Bedarf 184 Pferde galoppieren, diese müssen aber knapp eine halbe Tonne mehr in Bewegung halten. Die Gewichtszunahme ist optisch leicht zu erkennen, der neue GTD ist gegenüber seinem Urahn stolze 50 Zentimeter gewachsen. Aber auch unter dem Blech hat er nun eine Menge Technik, die das Fahren sicherer und komfortabler macht. Dass der Neue, dem ersten GTD in jeder Lebenslage die Rückleuchten zeigen kann, lässt sich am leichtesten mit dem Leistungsgewicht erklären. Beim Golf I sind es mehr als 12 Kilogramm, die jede Pferdestärke bewegen muss, beim aktuellen stemmen sich nur noch 7,4 Kilo gegen jedes PS. In Sachen Höchstgeschwindigkeit lässt der Golf 7 dem Oldtimer keine Chance. Während 160 Km/h in den 80ern als zügig galten, sind es heute 230 Stundenkilometer… Doch eines verbindet die beiden GTD. Damals wie heute standen und stehen die drei Buchstaben für einen echten Langstreckenexpress.
