Students, families and staff from Manor View Elementary located in Fort Meade, along with Target® (NYSE:TGT), The Heart of America Foundation® and Sabrina Soto, HGTV Designer and Target Home Style Expert, will celebrate the unveiling of the school’s newly renovated library and Teachers’ Resource Room. The transformation is part of the Target School Library Makeovers program and includes 2,000 new books, new design elements, technology upgrades – including 50 audio books donated by Playaway – and customized wall art. In addition, each student and his or her sibling/s will receive seven new books to take home and add to their at-home collection. In honor of Veterans Day, a celebration will be shared on Nov. 11 with the military families from the post, as well as deployed military parents overseas via live video chat.

Today, Target Corp.® (NYSE:TGT) announced 42 new schools from across the country that will receive a new library as part of the 2011 Target School Library Makeover program. Sydney Festival opened its 2012 program with Australia’s largest free outdoor cultural event, Festival First Night, attracting hundreds of thousands of people into the city centre for eight hours of music, theatre, dance and visual arts. Headlining the event was internationally-acclaimed music superstar Manu Chao, who had 60,000 people dancing to his unique blend of Latin reggae. Audiences thrilled to a mix of Australian and international entertainment including a 1950s swing dance, painted caravans, Australian singer-songwriter Meagan Washington, Indigenous singer Gurrumul and dapper Jamaican gents, The Jolly Boys. Keeping things at a lively pace were street performances by Tuba Skinny, Lewis Floyd Henry and Norman J and his Good Times Bus.
