Holland America Line has broken ground on a new “Base Camp” complex at the company’s McKinley Chalet Resort near the entrance to Alaska’s Denali National Park. Expected to be complete for the 2016 Alaska cruise season, Base Camp is part of Holland America Line’s ongoing enhancement program at the property that also includes room updates, upgrades to soft goods and hotel decor and additional modifications.

Pampers, the iconic and first baby care brand to distribute disposable diapers around the globe, is turning 50! Pampers honors these 50 years of parenting by unveiling its Little Miracle Missions program, which seeks to celebrate, support and protect babies everywhere through acts of kindness to little miracles (babies) and their families, while encouraging parents to “pay it forward” and support others. On Monday, Pampers and Graham’s Foundation (an organization that provides care packages that offer both practical and emotional support for the parents of micro-preemies) began donating more than 30,000 care packages to families with babies in level-three Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) across the country, for the care of premature or ill newborn babies. Yesterday, Pampers continued the celebration by partnering with a variety of celebrity parents who have their own personal miracle stories. Actors Joey Lawrence and Mark Consuelos, alongside actresses Ali Larter and LaLa Anthony delivered the care packages to The Mount Sinai Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in New York City.

KitchenAid is unveiling a new, three-door free standing refrigerator that is the largest capacity refrigerator in its class*. Tuthill announced Fill-Rite nextec™ Intelligence, a first-of-its-kind, smart fuel transfer pump technology that optimizes the fueling of fleet, construction and agricultural equipment.
“Up until now, pumping large volumes of fuel, filling large tanks or a number of vehicles meant you had to stop the pump every 30 minutes to let it cool down. Parking crashes usually don’t result in serious injuries, but repair costs can quickly mount, along with the hassle of going without the family vehicle while waiting for the body shop to finish work. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has launched a rear crash prevention ratings program to help consumers identify models with the technology that can prevent or mitigate low-speed backing crashes. Two systems earn the highest rating of superior, and four earn the second-highest rating of advanced.
Rear crash prevention encompasses several technologies. Parking sensors issue warning beeps and/or seat vibrations when the equipped vehicle gets too close to another vehicle or object directly behind it, or, in some cases, in front of it. Rear cross-traffic alert warns drivers of approaching vehicles that might cross their path as they back up. Rear automatic emergency braking systems detect objects behind a reversing vehicle and may automatically brake if the driver doesn’t heed alerts to stop.
IIHS engineers evaluated rear autobrake systems on six popular 2017 model vehicles — the BMW 5 series sedan, Cadillac XT5 SUV, Infiniti QX60 SUV, Jeep Cherokee SUV, Subaru Outback wagon and Toyota Prius hatchback.
Under the three-tier rating scheme, models with optional or standard rear crash prevention systems are rated superior, advanced or basic. Ratings are determined by whether the vehicles have available rear autobrake and, if so, how it performs in a series of car-to-car and car-to-pole tests with different approach angles. The availability of parking sensors and rear cross-traffic alert also is factored in.
The Outback and XT5 earn a superior rating when equipped with optional rear autobrake, parking sensors and rear cross-traffic alert. The Cherokee, 5 series, QX60 and Prius earn an advanced rating with this optional gear.
