Where might be the perfect place to introduce Tecnu Bites & Stings, an aptly named new over-the-counter product for stings and insect bites? How about the Great Texas Mosquito Festival in Clute, Texas? For 36 years, thousands of people have gathered at the yearly celebration along the gulf coast of Texas; a place known for thirsty mosquitoes, biting ants and other persnickety pests.
To the group at Tec Labs it sounded like the perfect place to get credible feedback on their innovative new product. So they hired a professional camera crew, grabbed some cases of Tecnu Bites & Stings and left the humidity-free confines of Oregon and headed to the land of cowgirls and Texas tea.
As the camera rolled, the video crew got some wonderful feedback from a great mix of people. The goal was to get honest and straightforward reactions and that’s exactly what occurred. Im Jahr 1982 erblickte der erste Golf GTD das Licht der Welt. Der erste Gran Tourismo Diesel, was das Namenskürzel eigentlich bedeutet, war weitestgehend ein Golf GTI, allerdings mit einem Selbstzünder unter der Haube. Trotz der im Vergleich zum aktuellen GTD mager anmutenden 70 Turbo-Diesel-Pferde, war der erste GTD damals so etwas wie die Sportskanone unter den Dieseln. Das lag zum einen am straffen Fahrwerk, zum anderen am geringen Gewicht. Rund 900 Kilogramm brachte das zierlich wirkende Auto damals auf die Waage. Der aktuelle GTD lässt bei Bedarf 184 Pferde galoppieren, diese müssen aber knapp eine halbe Tonne mehr in Bewegung halten. Die Gewichtszunahme ist optisch leicht zu erkennen, der neue GTD ist gegenüber seinem Urahn stolze 50 Zentimeter gewachsen. Aber auch unter dem Blech hat er nun eine Menge Technik, die das Fahren sicherer und komfortabler macht. Dass der Neue, dem ersten GTD in jeder Lebenslage die Rückleuchten zeigen kann, lässt sich am leichtesten mit dem Leistungsgewicht erklären. Beim Golf I sind es mehr als 12 Kilogramm, die jede Pferdestärke bewegen muss, beim aktuellen stemmen sich nur noch 7,4 Kilo gegen jedes PS. In Sachen Höchstgeschwindigkeit lässt der Golf 7 dem Oldtimer keine Chance. Während 160 Km/h in den 80ern als zügig galten, sind es heute 230 Stundenkilometer… Doch eines verbindet die beiden GTD. Damals wie heute standen und stehen die drei Buchstaben für einen echten Langstreckenexpress.

Vitamin Bee, LLC today announced a new collaboration with the Bayer Bee Care Program through its “Vitamin Bee®” character to help promote the Feed a Bee initiative, bee advocacy and healthy nutrition awareness for children.
Created by veteran director and animator Geoffrey Kater, Vitamin Bee is the central character in a nutrition education program that encourages kids to eat nutritious foods and empowers them to make healthy lifestyle choices. Their approach is to teach children and have fun while doing it, with the help of a dynamic animated character, as well as an entire curriculum that entertains and educates through the use of videos, quizzes, activity sheets, games and hands-on lessons.
“Vitamin Bee is a great role model that teaches kids about the value of the honey bee to our planet, our food supply and our daily lives,” said Geoffrey Kater, creator of Vitamin Bee. “We hope that getting kids to appreciate the role of the honey bee at an early age will encourage them to be great bee advocates for their entire lives. Beginning a new chapter in its celebrated history as an American product design innovator, KitchenAid is unveiling a dramatically designed major appliance collection available in stainless steel, black, white and black stainless steel, an industry first.
Reflecting visual cues from its best known product, the iconic stand mixer, the new collection is wholly original yet uniquely identifiable as the KitchenAid brand. It will be the brand's first collection to launch globally, with U.S. availability starting in April of 2015.

Mit dem neuen Variant, der ab Mitte August bei den Händlern steht, haben die Golf-Anhänger noch mehr die Qual der Wahl, für welche Variante des Bestsellers sie sich entscheiden sollen. Denn die Kombi-Version ist kein bloßes Anhängsel des Schrägheck-Modells mit angesetztem „Rucksack“, sondern weist ein eigenständiges Profil auf. Und bietet zu einem Mehrpreis von 1.775 Euro erheblich mehr Stauvolumen – in der Standard-Konfiguration mit 605 Litern immerhin 225 Liter mehr. Wer sich sicher ist, dass das Auto stets nur mit maximal zwei Personen besetzt ist und weder längere Urlaubsreisen noch ständig größere Einkäufe bei einem Baumarkt anfallen, dürfte sich die Mehrkosten sparen. Doch schon bei einer vierköpfigen Familie könnte der Variant eine Überlegung wert sein, zumal der Kombi sich weitaus stärker als das Schrägheck-Modell von seinem Vorgänger unterscheidet. Er ist mit 4,56 Metern nicht nur um 30 Zentimeter länger als der Basis-Golf, sondern auch gegenüber dem Vorgänger länger, breiter und niedriger geworden und wirkt schon aufgrund dieser „schärferen“ Proportionen sportlicher und markanter. In dieses Bild passt das neue Design. Perfektion im Detail spiegeln dabei markante Elemente wie die D-Säulen wider. Den Designern ist es hier gelungen, die wie die Sehne eines Bogens mit eingesetztem Pfeil gespannte Form der für den Golf so typischen C-Säulen auf die D-Säulen des Variant zu übertragen. Bis zum Abschluss der vorderen Türen folgt der Variant zwar der präzisen Linienführung des Golf Schrägheckmodells. Ab den B-Säulen entwickelt sich dann allerdings der eigenständigste und auch optisch dynamischste Golf Variant seit Bestehen der Baureihe.
