The report explains how Children International’s youth programs, with community centers at the core, measurably change outcomes for impoverished youth. The majority of the world’s 1.7 billion young people ages 10 to 24 live in developing countries – many in extreme poverty where they routinely confront threats to their personal safety and progress. Without positive intervention like Children International’s successful youth programs, these at-risk youth can remain trapped in an intergenerational cycle of poverty.

Last night Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) named Whitney Stewart National Youth of the Year in a ceremony held at the National Building Museum in Washington D.C. She accepted the honor before an audience that included members of Congress and Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) partners and supporters, including National Spokesperson and Club alum Denzel Washington.
Youth of the Year is BGCA's premier recognition program for Club teens and the National Youth of the Year title is the highest honor a Club member can receive, representing the voice of four million Club youth. For nearly 70 years, the Youth of the Year program has recognized young people for their outstanding leadership, service, academic excellence and dedication to living a healthy lifestyle. The Youth of the Year program is presented by Disney with support from signature partner Toyota. Along with additional partners Taco Bell Foundation and University of Phoenix, the National Youth of the Year will receive $145,000 in academic scholarships, as well as a trip to Disney World and a brand new Toyota vehicle. This year Youth of the Year will award more than $1 million in scholarships to Club teens.

Prior to joining the State Bank of India (SBI) Youth for India fellowship programme, Bharat Vineeth worked in the IT industry at Bangalore. But, with an unwavering passion to help the needy, Vineeth, a MBA and engineering degree holder - took a sabbatical and set out to make a change. He applied for the SBI Youth for India Fellowship.
With a high percentage of malnourishment among children and several incidences of midday meal food poisoning due to stale food at an anganwadi (primary school) in Jeypore, Odisha, Vineeth, during his fellowship, came up with a simple but effective solution.

Walden University Scholars of Change focus on the future, whether they are transforming the way children learn, mentoring, or improving living conditions for others. More than 175 Walden University students and alumni submitted inspiring videos of social change in their communities for the university’s 2014 Scholars of Change video contest.
