Nearly 12 million men in the U.S. suffer from symptoms related to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), an enlargement of the prostate that can cause issues such as frequent and weak urinary streams and sleep deprivation from getting up repeatedly during the night to urinate. Since traditional BPH therapies such as daily medications and more invasive or surgical procedures often result in unwanted side effects and complications, more than 54 percent of men who would benefit from treating their BPH choose not to do anything1. With today’s national introduction of the FDA-cleared Rezūm® System, NxThera provides urologists and their patients suffering from symptomatic BPH with a new, safe and effective minimally-invasive, office-based treatment option which improves quality of life and preserves sexual function2 – one of the main reasons many men choose to forego medications or more invasive procedures. “Men suffering from BPH are constantly evaluating the trade-offs between maintaining their current declined quality of life or treating their BPH symptoms and possibly incurring long term side effects,” said Dr. Kia Michel, M.D., a urologist at Comprehensive Urology in Los Angeles who recently performed the procedure as part of a nationally televised segment on prostate health. “Of all the minimally-invasive BPH treatments I’ve performed, Rezūm is the most effective and most versatile treatment available to patients – and the results have been excellent.” To view the multimedia release go to: http://www.multivu.com/players/English/7933151-nxthera-rezum-therapy/

Madison Taliaferro spent weeks in the hospital in 2012. After a decade of suffering from cystic fibrosis, she underwent a double lung transplant. She powered through the difficult surgery and the recovery that followed –long days of physical therapy and rehabilitation. Her parents were there. Her best friend visited from Kansas. Grandparents rotated shifts so she was never alone. But one request still lingered. “I just wanted to see my dogs,” she remembers. Having suffered from the effects of chronic illness for the decade prior, Madison was no stranger to long days at home, isolated from the school germs that could turn her illness into a critical condition with a single sneeze. When her friends couldn’t visit, her dogs were there. But at the hospital, they weren’t. When a serious illness enters a family's life, there are many questions to ask and decisions to make. It is important to answer these questions quickly. The process can seem overwhelming. However, hospice care can be a wonderful resource for information about symptom management and comfort care. Hospice care professionals are available to help assess goals, pain management and care options during the decision-making process. Are your symptoms minimal or moderate? Are these symptoms just starting to affect your life? If you want to continue treatment but also need comfort and symptom management, palliative care (often called comfort care) maybe an option. Palliative care is patient and family-centered care that optimizes quality of life by anticipating, preventing and treating suffering. Palliative care specialists address the physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of patients and families, making sure they have access to all the information about the disease progression and the choices ahead. A patient can receive palliative care in conjunction with other treatments or therapies. There are a lot of outdoor torturing events open to the public in the United States, land of the free. Most of them are in the style of the Latin bloody fiestas, meaning plainly, letting a mob attack a bull, only in America it is was euphemized to a sport. And of course in America like in America, it is a lot bigger and more established. The Houston Livestock and Rodeo Show is the world’s largest livestock and rodeo festival. It lasts 20 days and millions of people come to watch tens of thousands of helpless creatures being abused in dozens of different ways. Also, there are more than 27,000 volunteers serving on more than 100 different festival committees. Apparently there are a lot more people willing to volunteer for nonhumans’ exploitation than there are for preventing it. With about 20 rodeo performances and not less livestock attractions, all abusers can find their favorite abusing type and favorite victim type.

The Capeia Arraiana festival which was recently announced as Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage, is basically the rural Portuguese version of bullfighting, distinguished by the use of a special instrument built and used especially for the ritual, called a Forcão which is a huge wooden triangle made of heavy oak with 2 fork shape logs on its sides. The whole purpose of it is to harass the bull during the festival, tire him up so it will be easier to brutally ground him at the end of this "fight". Six bulls in each village are forced into this violent oppression every festival. Six bulls and one calf, as in the middle of the show, a juvenile Capeia with a juvenile forcão is conducted, to the cheers and encouragement screams of the proud mothers and fathers. The future oppressors are being trained from an early age.

During the last week of November the old town of Lamu in Kenya holds an annual festival intended to showcase the rich Swahili culture of the Lamu Archipelago and to help preserve the unique art and handicraft of Kenya’s oldest living town. The "artistic" highlight of the festival, how typical of humans, is a donkey race. Local donkey jockeys spend the entire year training for the event on the expense of the poor donkeys of course.

The practice of roping a bull by the horns and releasing him to the streets to be abused by hundreds of humans, for between a couple of hours and a couple of days, is very popular all around Spain. Mostly known as Toro de Cuerda, Toro Ensogaos, Sokamuturra or Toro Enmaromados, this abuse practice is popular in the autonomous of Aragon, Navarra, La Rioja, Basque Country, "anti-bullfighting" Catalonia, Valencia and especially in Castile and León and Andalusia. Each community uses its own fiesta or saint patron as an excuse for abuse. Each with its own version. The most famous event is held every June before the Corpus Christi fiesta in the municipality Benavente of the province of Zamora in Castile y León. Dozens of thousands come to the weeklong festival to watch and participate in the various bull abuse events. With some fewer spectators but much more victims, the town Beas de Segura of the Jaen district in Andalusia, hosts the largest festival in terms of victims during the festival of San Marcos between 22 and 25 of April. Almost a hundred bulls, cows and calves are abused in the streets of the town during the festival which is celebrated since the 16th century and of course declared as National Tourist Interest in Andalucía.

Every year thousands of bulls in hundreds of villages around Spain become Toro de Fuego (Bull of Fire) in which they are violently forced to function as live torches and fireworks machines to the joy of thousands of humans, in festivals called Toro Jubilo or Bou Embolat in Catalonia and Valencia regions. Each bull’s horror begins when he is tied by the horns and violently dragged to a pillar, through the roaring streets, where his head is tied, his legs forcibly held and his tail pulled so he would be totally immobilized. Then the machine of torture - a plank of wood attached to a metal bar doused with a highly flammable mixture of turpentine and tar, is firmly fixed to his head. Once ignited, the bull is let loose to the streets.
