A recent study found that only 47% of Americans are currently taking steps to prevent bone loss1, despite considering it to be of high importance. In an effort to educate the public about the importance of bone health, Sunsweet Growers has partnered with the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) to support their annual World Osteoporosis Day (WOD) campaign. WOD is globally celebrated on October 20 and serves to create awareness for bone health and the steps that can be taken to protect bones including incorporating bone-building habits – like eating prunes – into a regular lifestyle routine. Bones need the right nutrients to stay strong and healthy and research suggests that eating just 5-6 prunes (the Feel Good Fruit!) each day may help to prevent bone loss. However, many do not think about bone health until after a fracture or break occurs. A new survey commissioned by Mucinex, the number one over-the-counter brand* in America, reveals that more than 158 million Americans (63 percent of the adult population) would try to hide being sick so they wouldn’t have FOMO (fear of missing out) on doing things they wanted to do. However, more than 206 million Americans (82 percent of those surveyed) would agree that when they see people out and about when they are sick, they wish those battling cold and flu symptoms stayed home instead. While this time of year is full of fun autumn activities and outings with family and friends, it’s also the beginning of cold and flu season, and the last thing people want to do is stay at home and battle a swarm of sick symptoms.

Results from a new national survey released today indicate that our lifestyle exacerbates the challenge of trying to lose weight, making it more difficult than ever for adults to do so. Findings further suggest that adults who are trying to lose weight need a new approach that’s compatible with how we live today. Specifically, most healthcare professionals and a majority of U.S. adults say losing weight is harder today than it was for previous generations because of the busy, modern lifestyle of Americans (77% of primary care physicians or PCPs, 81% of pharmacists, 62% U.S. adults). In fact, approximately seven in 10 healthcare professionals say it’s harder for Americans today to lose weight compared to just 10 years ago (69% of PCPs, 73% of pharmacists), and the vast majority believe Americans need to take a new approach to weight loss that fits with today’s modern lifestyle (89% of PCPs, 95% of pharmacists). Every spring, allergies take control of the lives of millions of Americans, affecting their work, their family time and even how well they sleep at night. Something else affects those millions of allergy sufferers, according to a new survey: big misconceptions about allergies that may keep people from getting needed relief. To help put those misconceptions about allergies to rest, Sanofi is teaming up with science educator and television personality Adam Savage, along with allergist Dr. Neeta Ogden, to dispel them with credible information. The goal: help the 50 million allergy sufferers in America get the facts they need to understand and treat their allergies and take back control of their lives. As Americans gather at bars and in living rooms to watch the hugely popular college basketball tournament– often with a drink in hand– the Ad Council is launching a new series of public service advertisements (PSAs) for their ongoing “Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving” campaign. Impaired driving remains a persistent problem in the U.S., with over 10,000 people killed in alcohol-impaired driving crashes in 2016, according to the Department of Transportation. That’s approximately one person every fifty minutes. The new PSAs, which were produced pro bono by media agency OMD, encourage young men to examine their own behavior by amplifying social warning signs many already know and associate with impairment. Whether texting too many emojis or taking one too many selfies, these subtle “warning signs” are recognizable to the target audience and serve as cues not to drive home. Americans love their sports, but not all sports get the love and attention they deserve. That’s why USA Curling and Cheetos, one of the flagship brands from PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay division and makers of new, limited-edition Cheetos Winter White Cheddar Curls, are teaming up to dance - and curl - their way into America’s hearts. Cheetos tapped musical sensation Todrick Hall and pro football friends Vernon Davis and LaDainian Tomlinson to create a new dance move, “The Curl.” The dance is designed to win support for the unsung heroes of the sheet (that’s the ice for curling newbies) leading up to USA Curling’s big competition this February. The music video, “Teach Me How to Curl,” is available now on Todrick’s and Cheetos’ social channels. Bayer is proud to announce that over one million meals have been donated to hungry families across America. Earlier this year, Bayer, a global leader in innovation and agriculture, and country music superstar, Luke Bryan, launched the Here’s To The Farmer campaign, asking Luke’s fans across the country to give thanks to American farmers while also helping hungry Americans by sharing #HeresToTheFarmer. For each hashtag Bayer donated one meal* through Feeding America®. The campaign, coinciding with the 2017 Bayer Presents Luke Bryan Farm Tour, set a target of 1 million meals donated before the end of the year. With the help of fans, farmers and communities across the country, the Here’s To The Farmer campaign reached and surpassed this goal in less than four months. “We want to give a huge ‘thank you’ to Luke, his fans, state officials, and of course, America’s farmers, for making Here’s To The Farmer an overwhelming success,” said Ray Kerins, SVP for Bayer. “Farming communities across this great nation deserve our thanks and support. Here’s To The Farmer is one way Bayer was able to help hungry American families and we are incredibly proud of this campaign.” To view the multimedia release go to: https://www.multivu.com/players/English/77126514-bayer-luke-bryan-heres-to-the-farmer-success/

According to a National Safety Council poll released today, one in four Americans personally knows someone who has overdosed or died from an opioid overdose, knows someone who has become addicted to opioids, or has become addicted themselves. In response to the survey results – and a recommendation from the President’s Commission for Combating Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis – the National Safety Council is launching a provocative nationwide public education campaign that literally puts a face on the opioid epidemic. Stericycle is the Council’s exclusive disposal partner on the campaign.
