The Preeclampsia Foundation today released the Illustrated Preeclampsia Symptoms Tear Pad, a patient education tool that was developed in collaboration with health services researchers at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Ill. The tool effectively informs pregnant women, even those with potentially poor literacy, about preeclampsia. Because preeclampsia is a disorder that can have grave consequences for a mother and her unborn baby, the goal is for the tool to offer information in a way that allows women to assimilate and retain knowledge related to preeclampsia, leading them to promptly seek medical attention should they have symptoms related to preeclampsia.

In a recent American Heart Association/American Stroke Association survey, only 41 percent of people who care for family with significant risk factors for a first-time stroke could name at least three stroke warning signs.

A new survey commissioned by Mucinex, the number one over-the-counter brand* in America, reveals that more than 158 million Americans (63 percent of the adult population) would try to hide being sick so they wouldn’t have FOMO (fear of missing out) on doing things they wanted to do. However, more than 206 million Americans (82 percent of those surveyed) would agree that when they see people out and about when they are sick, they wish those battling cold and flu symptoms stayed home instead. As the number of people living with Alzheimer’s disease soars, so does the number of family caregivers.
