A new online survey shows just how difficult life insurance conversations can be. Parents would rather talk to their children about drugs/alcohol, religion and politics before life insurance, which is a topic only slightly more comfortable than sex/puberty. The survey also shows parents are the primary source for initial conversations about life insurance. This topic avoidance might be one reason that 22 percent of Americans feel they are not at all knowledgeable about life insurance. The State Farm survey, conducted by Harris Interactive among over 2,000 U.S. adults also revealed a gap in Americans’ knowledge of life insurance and general misconceptions about the benefits life insurance provides to those who are insured. One research grant of 15 000 € will be awarded annually to a research project proposal in the field of exposome and skin. What is exposome? For this highly complex interaction, the term exposome was recently coined by Dr. Christopher Wild at the World Health Organization‘s International Agency for Research on Cancer. The exposome analysis, therefore, complements the human genome by providing a comprehensive description of individuals’ lifelong environmental exposures. Exposome research aims to look at the holistic view of the human body’s exposures, how the body responds to those exposures, and their combined effects. Non-profit Enroll America, the nation’s largest health care enrollment coalition, is working with the Ad Council to encourage women to sign up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act during the next open enrollment period, which runs from November 15, 2014 through February 15, 2015. To raise awareness, Enroll America is working with the Ad Council to continue its successful “Take Care, People” integrated public service advertising (PSA) campaign encouraging the uninsured, particularly women, to enroll. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, women make 80% of the health care decisions for their families. Women are also 47% more likely than their male counterparts to share information about health care with their friends, family and community. Lack of awareness is a critical issue among women, however, with 79% of those in the Enroll America study saying they do not know enough about the new law. On Thursday, July 28, the Estate of Michael Jackson teamed up with Michael Jackson ONE by Cirque du Soleil and Mandalay Bay to pay tribute to the King of Pop as they unveiled his iconic HIStory Statue. Featured on the cover of his world-famous album HIStory: Past, Present and Future Book 1, which became the best selling multiple disc album worldwide, the HIStory Statue is the third piece of memorabilia to be loaned by the Estate for display on the Mandalay Bay property. The highly anticipated unveiling ceremony took place in the Main Lobby of Mandalay Bay, where fans had the opportunity to witness the live reveal of this historic sculpture. To welcome the piece, members from the cast of Michael Jackson ONE delivered a never-before-seen performance created especially for this event, dazzling the audience as they performed to “SCREAM,” the first single from the HIStory album. Following the performance, fans were able to meet and take photos with those cast members.
