Honda unveiled the dynamic Accord Coupe Concept today at the North American International Auto Show, providing the first official glimpse of the athletic styling direction, as well as revealing a host of new technologies for the all-new, ninth-generation 2013 model, set to go on-sale this fall.
The 2013 Accord will feature three all-new powertrains, including the first U.S. application of both a 2.4-liter direct-injected engine and two-motor plug-in hybrid system from Honda’s suite of next-generation Earth Dreams™ powertrain technologies. The Chevrolet Volt and Nissan Leaf earn the highest safety ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in the first-ever U.S. crash test evaluations of plug-in electric cars. Volvo Car Corporation is now ramping up production of the new Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid. After the initial batch of 1,000 model year 2013 cars, production will increase to 4,000–6,000 cars as of model year 2014.
The assembly of the world’s first diesel plug-in hybrid has been successfully integrated on the same line as the company’s other models at the Torslanda plant in Gothenburg.

Der Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid als Plug-in steht seit August bei den Händlern, den reinen Stromer e-up! im Kleinwagen-Segment gibt es ab Oktober zum Kampfpreis von 26.900 Euro in den VW-Autohäusern zu sehen. Und Anfang nächsten Jahres folgen der Audi A3 Sportback e-tron als Plug-in Hybrid und der Golf als reines Elektrofahrzeug, von dem es in 2014 zusätzlich ebenfalls eine Plug-in-Variante geben wird. Weitere Modelle werden folgen, um in jedem Segment einen Stromer oder einen Plug-in Hybrid anbieten zu können und das selbst gesteckte Ziel zu erreichen, bis 2018 der weltweit ökologisch führende Autokonzern zu sein. Dabei bleibt man im VW-Konzern realistisch. Trotz des Volks-Elektroautos e-up! werde der Anteil der reinen Stromer vorerst begrenzt sein. Bis 2018 hofft man aber auf einen Absatz von 300.000 Fahrzeugen mit Ladestecker.
