Clayton, one of the largest home builders in America, has launched a social media and video campaign that highlights the importance of giving back to those in need.
The “Season of Giving” campaign shares stories from the experiences of Clayton team members giving back to their communities and fellow team members in need. Clayton’s 40 home building facilities and nearly 350 home centers across the nation are encouraged to share how they are giving back through their social media channels in hopes to inspire others. The campaign will run during the globally recognized, Giving Tuesday, which takes place the Tuesday after Black Friday on Nov. 28.
The storytelling campaign includes personal experiences from team members such as building a ramp for a team member’s wife, volunteering with a local school for autistic children and supporting a special needs football team.

In honor of National Volunteer Month, Chuck E. Cheese’s, the preferred destination for Big Brothers Big Sisters, is raising awareness of the more than 30,000 unmatched Littles in need of a Big. Chuck E. himself is kicking off a nationwide honorary Big program by becoming a Big for a day to a Little in Dallas. Throughout the month, all Chuck E. Cheese’s locations will also offer guests opportunities to support Big Brothers Big Sisters by donating at the register or participating in a National Night Out event on April 14.
Starting in Dallas, Big Brothers Big Sisters will match Chuck E. with a deserving Little for a surprise visit to his or her school, followed by an after school play date during Chuck E. Cheese’s National Night Out event on April 14 from 5 p.m.–9 p.m. National Night Out is a nationwide event in which a portion of the proceeds from all who attend will be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Today, international humanitarian organization Concern Worldwide US launched the Your Dollar Our Future campaign to raise money to rebuild schools, hire teachers, and supply materials to repair the damaged education infrastructure in Haiti. The campaign coincides with American children starting a new school year after the summer holiday and is supported by celebrity “All Stars,” including Gabriel Byrne, Usain Bolt, NFL quarterback Charles Tillman, Brendan Fraser, Damien McGinty, Jon Secada, Jeffrey Donovan, Giuliana Rancic, Renee Oldstead, Cassie Scerbo, and Gabrielle Beauvais, to name a few, who have joined Concern to help bring education to earthquake-affected children in Haiti. ChildObesity180 today announced the two National school program winners of its nationwide innovation contest. The competition was designed to identify and reward the most creative, impactful, and scalable school-based programs and technologies to promote children’s physical activity.
Among the many schools nationwide employing running and walking programs, the 100 Mile Club in Corona-Norco, CA is a true pioneer. Inspired by the 1992 Summer Olympics, special education teacher Kara Lubin had a dream that kids would be motivated to stay fit by the simple goal of “winning the gold medal.” These medals, based on dedication and effort, not speed and fitness, could reward students of all abilities, including Lubin’s special education students. Lubin took action and founded the 100 Mile Club in 1993. Elementary school students are presented with a straightforward challenge, run 100 miles over the course of the school year. Students log miles before school, after school, during recess, and at sanctioned community events. Milestones are rewarded with simple tokens – wristbands, pencils, and medals. A year-end assembly celebrates and recognizes students who have achieved 100 miles, and those still with miles to go. Nearly 20 years later, the 100 Mile Club has stood the test of time, and been adopted by schools in California and across the nation. The program is highly scalable and with Lubin’s help, is now in place in more than 115 schools across eight U.S. states, reaching more than 30,000 students.

After years of analyzing attempted abductions, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children® has identified the tricks used by abductors, and the most successful escape strategies for children. NCMEC and Honeywell (NYSE:HON) are working together to deliver this insight nationwide through KidSmartz™, the premier abduction prevention program that equips teachers and parents with tools to help protect children.
A key component of the program is the KidSmartz “Safety Dance” Video Contest. The RCS Engineers Rocketry Team from Russellville, Ala., beat out 100 competitors to claim first place at the National Finals of the 2015 Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC). After months of rocketry design, test flights and qualification launches, hundreds of students from across the country traveled to Great Meadow in the Plains, Va., to vie for the title of champion of the largest rocketry competition in the world.

LG Mobile today announced that 16 year-old Austin Wierschke from Rhinelander, WI is the winner of the fifth-annual LG U.S. National Texting Championship. LG originated the first-ever nationwide texting competition in 2007 and has returned each year with additional prizes and challenges. After out-texting the best in the U.S. with his ultimate speed and dexterity, Austin was presented with a check for $50,000 by actress and avid texter, Ashley Tisdale (High School Musical, Hellcats) and was named the 2011 LG U.S. National Texting Champion.
