A new social network for creative professionals taking two years and almost €1 million to develop was launched today. ‘Toadsquare’ aims to unite the world’s 20 million ‘creatives’ – artists, photographers, filmmakers, scriptwriters, actors – and provide them with an instant, global showcase for exhibiting their talents to agents, producers and collectors.

In early March, the artist and TED Prize winner JR announced his wish to turn the world “Inside Out.” Through his InsideOut Project, JR invited people around the globe to share a photo portrait – along with a statement about what they stand for – and paste the pictures in their communities. A group of photographers and organizers in Tunisia were the first to participate in an InsideOut community project, which they named Artocracy.

Professional Photographers of America (PPA) is inviting the world to watch live action of the annual International Photographic Competition International Photographic Competition (IPC) from August 4-7. This is the first time in IPC’s history that judging sessions can be viewed in real time by the public. PPA photographers around the globe have submitted nearly 5,000 images for the competition and will watch closely, along with a worldwide audience, as the IPC judges assess their work.
