Takeda today announced the launch of a new expert Report on COPD, introduced at a Takeda organised press conference on the occasion of the 2012 European Respiratory Society (ERS) Annual Congress taking place from 1- 5 September in Vienna, Austria.
The Report, entitled ‘The Shifting Paradigm in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Management,’ was initiated and developed by Takeda Pharmaceuticals International GmbH and is a compilation of opinion articles from a panel of key international respiratory experts, the European Federation of Allergy and Airways Diseases Patients’ Association (EFA) and COPD patients, reflecting updated guidance and research. The new expert Report was developed in response to a recent shift in emphasis in COPD management which now places future risk at equal importance to treatment of current disability. Treatment objectives are now divided into two groups: reducing symptoms and reducing risk.

Kicking off today is the Wheaties NEXT Challenge powered by the leader in Connected Fitness, MapMyFitness. Five world-class athletes from five emerging sports will compete for this honor in an innovative way—by asking their fans to get out and move. Challenge participants will vote for their favorite athlete by logging workouts through the MapMyFitness platform – either manually documenting online, recording through any of the apps (MapMyFitness, MapMyRun, MapMyRide, MapMyWalk) or by connecting any one of the 400+ compatible devices. Jointly hosted by several government departments including the National Tourism Administration of China, the General Administration of Sport of China and the Zhejiang Provincial Government, the 14th West Lake International Expo Hangzhou, China officially kicked off on October 13. Organization of the 22-day event was administered by Hangzhou’s municipal government.
The main venue for the event is located in the heart of Hangzhou, while activities are also taking place at an additional 14 smaller venues located in nearby locations including at the Hangzhou metropolitan economic zone and throughout the Yangtze River Delta. The 132–program event features a series of shows including West Lake International Fireworks Show, West Lake Art Expo, China International Press Photo Contest, West Lake International Sculpture Exhibition and China Arts and Crafts Masterwork Exhibition.

A press conference was held on Wednesday, June 26, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Timothy School located at 5100 Camden Avenue in San Jose, California, to release the world’s first executive caliber, leadership training curricula for 2-9 year olds. Dr. Alan E. Nelson, EdD, Lecturer of Management at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA, and Founder of KidLead has been working on the first-ever leadership program for preschoolers and early childhood students. This social innovation is designed to identify influencers while they’re still very moldable in character and skill, as well as to teach others on how to problem solve in teams and be led by peers. Dr. Nelson is considered a global expert in young leader development, but this work is a first, to start so young.

I was there during the Press Only days and attending the unveiling new Compass, the Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel (diesel) and the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT. After the press conference I was talking with people that work for Jeep. Simon has worked across every outlet at the BBC, presenting business news on the one o'clock, six o'clock and ten o’clock news and as the face of BBC Breakfast’s business news. He is currently the Business and Economics Presenter on Radio 4's Today Programme.
