Friday night’s Vegas Strong Benefit Concert at T-Mobile Arena united the Las Vegas entertainment industry and close-knit community for an evening of live performances and heartfelt video tributes honoring victims and survivors of the October 1 tragedy.
More than a dozen A-list entertainers and homegrown talent convened to benefit the Las Vegas Victims Fund in front of a capacity crowd of 12,000.. The full lineup included Imagine Dragons, The Killers, Boyz II Men, Jay Leno, David Copperfield, Penn & Teller, Carrot Top, Cirque du Soleil and Blue Man Group; appearances by Bryce Harper, Kurt Busch, Wayne Newton; and tribute videos from Jason Aldean, Celine Dion, Elton John, George Strait and the Las Vegas Golden Knights.

‘SO-UK: Centrepoint Sessions’ is a sublime evening of UK Soul starring much loved artists from the UK soul movement: Carl McIntosh and the Loose Ends Experience, Omar, Junior, Imaani, Terri Walker, Don-e, Natasha Watts, Maya Blu, Femi Fem, Ronnie Herel, Fitzroy Facey (Soul Survivors), Sammy Confunktion – all keeping the vibe alive till the early hours. Unprecedented planning by state and local authorities, law enforcement and the insurance industry established what is being called a national model for protecting the public from fly-by-night contractors in the aftermath of a natural disaster.
According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB), preparation in advance of the F-5 tornado that devastated the city of Moore and surrounding areas in May 2013 resulted in a well-coordinated effort to ensure that roofers and other contractors who swarmed into the area in the hours and days after the storm were properly licensed, insured and authorized to work in the area.
Local police assisted the Oklahoma Insurance Department Fraud Unit in patrolling the area and keeping suspected fraudulent out-of-state contractors from doing work unless all protocols were followed.

The Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. Ralph camera aboard the New Horizons mission will provide the closest images we have ever seen of Pluto when the spacecraft arrives at the dwarf planet on July 14.
Ralph, the main “eyes” of New Horizon is designed to help scientists map the surface geology of Pluto and its moons, and investigate Kuiper Belt objects. The small but powerful Ralph weighs only 23 pounds and operates on approximately seven watts, the power of a standard night light. The entire telescope operates around 220 K (-60°F) in the cold darkness of the outer solar system. After a journey of more than nine years, Ralph will capture the first ever close-up snapshots of Pluto when New Horizons passes within 7,000 miles of the tiny, icy dwarf planet.
