Sanofi (EURONEXT: SAN and NYSE: SNY) and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: REGN) today announced that data from two Phase 2 trials with SAR236553/REGN727, an investigational, high-affinity, subcutaneously administered, fully-human antibody targeting PCSK9 (proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9), were presented at the American College of Cardiology’s (ACC) 61st Annual Scientific Meeting in Chicago.
The data showed that treatment with SAR236553/REGN727 over 8 to 12 weeks significantly reduced mean low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C, or “bad” cholesterol) by 40% to 72% in patients with elevated LDL-C on stable dose of statins.

A landmark summer research study has unveiled a vital component of wellness and happiness…vacations. The survey, “The Takeaways from Getaways,” commissioned by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, draws attention to the serious physical and emotional implications of stress and feeling over worked, and the inextricable link between vacation and personal wellness and happiness.
The research revealed surprisingly that more than 9 out of 10 Americans reported feeling happier after taking a vacation. And seventy-seven percent (77%) believed that their overall health improves after a getaway. Even so, more than half of Americans admitted that doctors should be able to prescribe vacations as a curative and therapeutic option for stress-related maladies.

Three dentists and two hygienists from Aspen Dental offices volunteered their time and talents in Haiti earlier this month (Nov. 4-9), providing free dental care in a country where there is just a single dentist for every 100,000 people.
The team – – based in the town of Jacmel, three hours from Haiti’s capital of Port au Prince – – provided vital oral care in a neighborhood clinic in conjunction with Restore Haiti.

Grapevine recently dedicated its 127-foot-high Clock Tower featuring two larger-than-life, 9-foot tall Glockenspiel characters, known as the Would-Be Train Robbers, Nat Barrett and Willy Majors. Located 75 feet in the air within the Clock Tower, these figures emerge each day shortly before the stroke of noon and 6 p.m. to attempt the perfect heist. Just as Glockenspiels in Europe are rooted in history, Grapevine’s Clock Tower figures reflect the Western lore that many visitors from outside Texas find interesting and entertaining. The debut was featured as part of the dedication of the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau’s Headquarters and Museum Complex during the City’s 28th Annual Main Street Days festival.

Bis einschließlich August beträgt das Zulassungsminus satte 28,9 Prozent gegenüber dem Vorjahreszeitraum und das bei einem durchschnittlichen Branchen-Gesamtrückgang von 6,6 Prozent. Mit einer Länge von 4,25 Metern ist der neue 308 die kompakteste Limousine ihres Segments. Auch der Karosserieüberhang fällt vorn wie hinten überraschend kurz aus, was ihm eine dynamische Optik verleiht, ohne die Platzverhältnisse im Innenraum einzuschränken. Dank des auf 2,52 Meter vergrößerten Radstands profitieren Insassen im Innenraum von mehr Bewegungsfreiheit. Das Kofferraumvolumen von 470 Litern (VDA-Norm: 420 Liter), von dem 35 Liter unter dem Bodenteppich versteckt sind, stellt nach Angaben von Peugeot einen Rekordwert im Segment dar. Darüber hinaus gibt es im Innenraum zahlreiche weitere Ablagemöglichkeiten wie das zwölf Liter große Handschuhfach oder die großen Seitentaschen an den Vordertüren.
