Garlock Sealing Technologies LLC, The Anchor Packing Company, and Garrison Litigation Management Group, Ltd., along with representatives of asbestos claimants, have filed a new plan of reorganization (the “Plan”). Epson America, Inc. today announced that Smark Company, a distributor of industrial custom blended specialty chemicals, has integrated the Epson ColorWorks® C7500 and C831 inkjet label printers into its business workflow to significantly streamline in-house label production and maintain a safe production environment. Leveraging the ColorWorks printers, Smark is able to produce labels with exceptional clarity and color, in half the time compared with their previous legacy two-step label production process, and effortlessly differentiate the hazardous chemicals used in custom blends to comply with strict Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) guidelines1. “The two-step label process we utilized previously relied on pre-printed labels that would often smear or fade – a costly and risky issue,” said Michael Garcia, supply chain manager, Smark Company. “Since installing the C7500 label printer, along with the ColorWorks C831, we now have the flexibility and efficiency required to adapt to new industry mandates and keep up with the ever-evolving demands of our customers. The move to on-demand color labeling has been extremely beneficial to our business.” Fast machines that consume ink efficiently and produce sharp images, the Epson ColorWorks C7500 and C831 printers are designed to increase productivity while reducing the cost of using pre-printed labels. XQ Institute is launching XQ: The Super School Project, a challenge to reimagine and design the next American high school. Harnessing the best of American ingenuity in cities and towns across the country, XQ aims to help spark a movement to rethink the American high school—an institution that was designed to meet the needs of the Industrial Revolution and hasn’t changed in more than a century. “Our nation is radically different than it was 100 years ago. Nearly every aspect of our daily lives—from how we communicate to how we work and play—has changed dramatically,” said Laurene Powell Jobs, Chair of the board of XQ Institute. “But our high schools have stayed frozen in time. Together, we have an opportunity to help fuel a movement for students, to inspire great high schools, and even to rethink school itself. Our passion at XQ is to help educators everywhere foster students who are curious, engaged, and creative—armed with the new literacies, knowledge, and skills needed to thrive,” she added. “To do that, we must use our collective imagination.” From the Model T to the Tesla and the switchboard to the smart phone—everything has changed except for how we prepare our kids for the future. XQ: The Super School Project is a rallying call to America to change the outdated model that has failed to prepare our students for the demands of the global economy, and an open call to every community to rethink high school for today and tomorrow. XQ Institute will provide a fund of $50 million to support at least five selected schools over the next five years. It will also partner with them to provide expert support and guidance to turn their ideas into real Super Schools that can inspire the country. Johnson Controls, a global multi-industrial company, is constantly focusing on improving the future of car seating. Thinking ahead, Johnson Controls will present its seating demonstrator vehicle SD15 to customers and media at the 66th Frankfurt Autoshow. The SD15 features a simulated vehicle environment with a focus on first- and second-row seating while addressing the three automotive megatrends from a seating perspective: autonomous driving, lightweight, and increasing customer demands towards individualization and style for future urban mobility. Furthermore, the stylish ink jet printed seat covers of the SD15 show what Johnson Controls can do in terms of individualization. The weight and space saving multi-material seats padded with highly ergonomic foam parts pave the way towards the demands of lightweight design. Many SD15 features support the megatrend of autonomous driving in the future “multi-talented” vehicle seat. The SD15’s front row features a power driver seat mounted to a curved track, eliminating the need for separate and complex mechanisms found in conventional seat arrangements. The seat offers a control console mounted directly to the seat structure that moves conveniently with the occupant, instead of being fixed between the seats which offers wireless charging options for mobile devices.
