The health of babies in the United States has taken a step backward as the nation’s preterm birth rate worsened for the first time in eight years, the March of Dimes said today. The U.S. earned a “C” grade on the latest March of Dimes Premature Birth Report Card amidst widening differences in prematurity rates across different races and ethnicities. “The 2016 March of Dimes Report Card demonstrates that there is an unfair burden of premature birth among specific racial and ethnic groups as well as geographic areas,” says Dr. Jennifer L. Howse, president of the March of Dimes. “The March of Dimes strives for a world where every baby has a fair chance, yet we see this is not the reality for many mothers and babies. Babies in this country have different chances of surviving and thriving simply based on the circumstances of their birth.” The U.S. preterm birth rate went up from 9.57 to 9.63 in 2015, according to final data from the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS). Across the country, preterm birth rates were nearly 48 percent higher among black women and more than 15 percent higher among American Indian/Alaska Native women compared to white women. PSI, a leading international health organization with programs in 67 countries, launches the latest issue of its global health magazine Impact, which answers the question: What is the future of international development? Fifty years ago, President John F. Kennedy created the U.S. Agency of International Development (USAID) to address Americans’ increasing dissatisfaction with foreign aid. Today the U.S. spends less than 1% of its total budget on foreign aid. How will sweeping new USAID reforms enable the Agency to make the most of taxpayer money? And how are international organizations approaching development on the ground? To view Multimedia News Release, go to http://multivu.prnewswire.com/mnr/psi/47715/

With the airing of Super Bowl XLVIII, 20 Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) students became the first to have a hand in designing the opening animation for FOX Sports’ broadcast of the NFL’s annual championship game. A television event that likely will be one of the top 10 most-watched programs in history, the broadcast was expected to draw an audience of more than 100 million. The opening animation of the broadcast was set in New York’s iconic Times Square, and brought the worlds of art and football together to capture the superior athleticism of NFL players. SCAD students helped create the concept and design for the animation using assets provided by FOX Sports and by fashioning new creative elements. Royal Challenge Sports Drink inspires people to be unafraid of consequences and make bold choices. Through the ‘Made of Bold’ video, Virat Kohli and Royal Challenge Sports Drink have come together to pay tribute to the bold journey of Indian athletes who play bold against all odds and need to be given the much deserved recognition and spotlight. These beautiful opening lines from the ‘Made of Bold’ video, narrated by Virat Kohli and written by Sonal Dabral, give a perspective on the behind-the-scenes challenges of Indian athletes, who strive for success against all odds in a country that primarily worships cricket. They don’t have packed stadiums with screaming fans, but they still give it their all, every single day not for a tour, not for a tournament but for 4 years at a stretch and against all odds. Only because they are ‘made of bold’. “Every successful athlete has a journey made up of a bold spirit, grit and mental strength. I took up cricket at an early age and today it has given me people’s love and respect. There are champions in the country who have taken up sports other than cricket but the fact is that their commitment and sacrifices are not known to many. They silently endure the test of times in their sporting journey putting a lot at stake and unafraid of consequences. They are indeed “Made of Bold”. This video is an attempt to give everyone a glimpse into the never-say-die spirit of these athletes.” says Indian star cricketer, Virat Kohli.
