A sweet celebration, 75 years in the making! Entenmann’s Bakery, the maker of more than 100 sweet baked goods, and The Salvation Army have partnered to celebrate the 75th Annual National Donut Day on June 1st, 2012 with a sweet celebration.
The holiday, held annually on the first Friday of June, was established by The Salvation Army in 1938 in Chicago to honor the “Donut Lassies” who served these treats to soldiers during World War I and to help raise needed funds during the Great Depression. This significant occasion established the donut as a long-standing symbol of the services The Salvation Army continues to provide.

Across its seven U.S. manufacturing plants, the brand produced more than 90 million individual products Made in the USA with global materials in 2016, an almost 50 percent increase from the 62 million individual products in 2015, just one year earlier. Sinar Mas Cepsa inaugurated today its first oleochemicals plant in Indonesia, which represents an investment of EUR 300 million made over two years. The plant will produce fatty alcohols from sustainably-sourced palm kernel oil, a key ingredient in the manufacture of everyday products such as household cleaning goods and personal care products.
Sinar Mas Cepsa is a wholly-owned joint venture between Cepsa, a leading integrated energy company and world leader in the production of linear alkylbenzene (LAB) used to make biodegradable detergents, and Golden Agri-Resources, member of the Indonesian consortium of Sinar Mas businesses and the world’s second largest vertically-integrated palm oil company.

As National Manufacturing Month begins, Whirlpool Corporation is celebrating its history and embracing progress in the manufacturing industry. Whirlpool Corporation is proud to be a Gold Supporter of Manufacturing Day 2017 and will be marking the day with a series of events in the local communities of its manufacturing plants across the country.
Whirlpool Corporation will invite select groups of high school and college students as well as community leaders to take part in a variety of activities at its U.S. plants. Programming will include: tours of the facilities, video presentations, and question-and-answer sessions. Viewers see turkeys walk about freely and safely inside barns without cages, as well as learn how veterinarian-prescribed antibiotics are proven to clear an animal’s system before the meat is processed. The videos also share how healthy turkeys are raised on a nutritious diet of corn and soybeans along with vitamins and minerals, and how turkeys are farm-raised using smart technology and responsible stewardship of resources.

Yesterday evening the Lindt & Sprüngli Chocolate Factory was the setting for a spectacular light show. Brand ambassador Roger Federer, the Lindt Maîtres Chocolatiers and Ernst Tanner, Chairman and CEO of Lindt & Sprüngli, set the kick-off for the festive light projections by artist Gerry Hofstetter. Around 8000 visitors marvelled at the festive images and enjoyed the magical Christmas village around the chocolate factory.
