When a child is diagnosed with cancer, their family is presented with treatment options – often a combination of surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. Radiation and chemotherapy have been used to treat kids’ cancers for more than 50 years and often come with long-term late effects including secondary cancers, heart damage and cognitive issues. Often a child’s best chance at survival is a clinical trial which offers them the newest treatment options available. In recognition of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation will highlight the critical need to fund lifesaving research and share stories of kids affected by cancer – like Micah, who is alive today because there was a clinical trial available. Kohler raises the bar on toilet flushing platforms with the launch of its new Revolution 360 swirl flush technology. The brands extensive experience in the toilet industry supports its understanding that critical drivers of owner satisfaction are toilet cleanliness and flush performance – both addressed in the new platform. Revolution 360 is Kohler’s most complete flush ever developed and is powered by the brand’s widely popular AquaPiston canister technology which allows water to flow out of the tank at 360 degrees, increasing the power and effectiveness of the flush. Once out of the tank the water flows into the bowl from a single, powerful port and swirls throughout the bowl. Utilizing this swirling motion, Revolution 360 keeps the bowl cleaner, longer than a conventional flush. Kohler’s team of engineers engaged experiment and Computational Fluid Dynamics methods to study, improve and perfect even the smallest details to ensure complete rinsing of the entire bowl surface. Entry-level employees are becoming less proficient in the skills most needed to succeed in today’s workplace, according to a recent national survey of human resources (HR) managers responsible for hiring. The survey, sponsored by leading early education provider Primrose Schools®, revealed skills like adaptability, teamwork and problem solving are critical to workplace success. Yet, 70 percent of seasoned HR managers report that entry-level employees are rarely proficient in these skills. According to the survey, critical thinking, problem solving, teamwork, self-control, adaptability and working memory – collectively referred to by educators as executive function skills – are more highly valued in entry-level candidates than technical abilities, academic background and other factors. And while respondents state that entry-level employees are rarely proficient in these skills, two-thirds say hiring entry-level employees with good executive function skills is a top priority for their company’s long-term success. Today, HHS’ Administration for Children and Families (ACF), along with the National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse, has launched a new series of public service advertisements (PSAs) recognizing the critical role fathers play in the lives of their children. The public service campaign created by the non-profit Ad Council coincides with Tell a Joke Day and centers on the popularity and growing trend of telling “Dad” jokes. Through sharing dad jokes, the PSAs aim to communicate to fathers that the smallest moments spent with their children can make the biggest difference in their children’s lives. The ads direct fathers to Fatherhood.gov where users will find helpful tips, tools, information and jokes to help them get more involved with their kids.
