Dozens of actors, musicians, sports personalities and other distinguished guests donated their time on September 11th to honor the memories of those who lost their lives on 9/11 by raising more than $12 million for charities around the world. This special event, called Charity Day, is hosted each year by BGC Partners, Inc. (NASDAQ: BGCP) (“BGC Partners” or “BGC”), a leading global brokerage company servicing the financial and real estate markets, and its affiliates Cantor Fitzgerald and GFI Group. Celebrities who attended the event included Matthew McConaughey, Common, and Liev Schreiber in New York, and Nicole Scherzinger, Tom Hardy and Jimmy Carr in London.
In addition to the millions of dollars raised for many worthy causes, BGC Partners, Cantor Fitzgerald and GFI Group announced they are raising $5 million for the families severely impacted by Hurricanes Maria and Jose in Puerto Rico. These funds will be raised over the next several months and prepaid $1000 American Express® cash cards will be distributed to 5,000 families in January 2019.

BBC Radio 2 DJ Sara Cox and James Bond actor Colin Salmon have pledged their support for Christmas in a Box a new fundraising campaign for End Youth Homelessness (EYH), a movement of charities supporting vulnerable young people across the UK.
An estimated 15,000 young people will face homelessness this Christmas across the UK. Christmas in a Box will enable visitors to Dune London’s website and stores across the UK to give a young person the gift of a better Christmas with an EYH charity.

On August 3rd, LifeRide commenced with contemporary artist José Parlá, in partnership with RxArt, with an unveiling of original work by Parlá at Incarnation Children’s Center (ICC). ICC is New York City’s only skilled nursing facility providing specialized care for youth living with HIV/AIDS.

Today the EDF Energy London Eye reached an impressive milestone by welcoming its 50 millionth visitor.
Just over 13 years ago in March 2000, the London Eye opened its doors to the public for the first time and has since welcomed everyone from homeless charities to Royalty and guests of all ages from countries all over the globe, on the 135m high observation wheel.
