The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) and Teva Respiratory announced today the launch of a national awareness campaign – Know Your Count – aimed at raising awareness of the seriousness of asthma and educating asthma patients and caregivers about the importance of keeping track of the remaining doses in their rescue inhalers. The campaign features award-winning singer and actress, Kristin Chenoweth, who is speaking publicly for the first time about the impact her asthma has had on her professional career and busy lifestyle. Ein Auto mit sportlicher Frische und dynamischer Eleganz. Besondere Akzente setzt die Seitenansicht. Sie wirkt im Vergleich zu konventionellen Kurzheck-Modellen sportlicher und gestreckter, fast Coupé-artig. Damit setzt sich das Fahrzeug optisch und funktional vom Wettbewerbsumfeld ab. Die dynamische Silhouette wird geprägt durch eine klare Linienführung, den langen Radstand (2,60 Meter) und die scharfe, hohe Tornadolinie. Das Heck unterstreicht den sportlichen Charakter des Spaceback. Es ist klar gezeichnet und wirkt ausgewogen und aufgeräumt. Das Interieur zeichnet sich durch sportliche 3-Speichen-Lenkräder, schicke Dekorleisten und frische Designs für die Sitzbezüge aus. Typisch Skoda bietet der Innenraum viel Platz: Obwohl das neue Modell im Außenmaß knapp 18 Zentimeter kürzer ist als die Rapid Limousine, sind die Platzverhältnisse für die Insassen genauso großzügig wie beim ‚großen Bruder’. Der Rapid Spaceback bietet in seinem Segment die größte Kniefreiheit (64 Millimeter) und die größte Kopffreiheit hinten (980 Millimeter). Auch das Kofferraum-Volumen zählt mit 415 Litern bzw. mit 1.380 Litern bei umgeklappter Rücksitzbank zu den besten Werten im Segment. Zu diesem großzügigen Raumangebot kommen zahlreiche ‚Simply Clever’ Lösungen: Der Kofferraum hat zum Beispiel auf Wunsch einen doppelten Ladeboden, so dass das Gepäckabteil in zwei horizontale Ebenen eingeteilt werden kann und damit doppelt nutzbar ist. Den Doppelboden muss man nicht zu Hause lassen, falls man den maximalen Raum nutzen möchte – er ist einfach in die untere Position verschiebbar. Hands-free technologies might make it easier for motorists to text, talk on the phone, or even use Facebook while they drive, but new findings from the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety show dangerous mental distractions exist even when drivers keep their hands on the wheel and their eyes on the road. The research found that as mental workload and distractions increase reaction time slows, brain function is compromised, drivers scan the road less and miss visual cues, potentially resulting in drivers not seeing items right in front of them including stop signs and pedestrians. This is the most comprehensive study of its kind to look at the mental distraction of drivers and arms AAA with evidence to appeal to the public to not use these voice-to-text features while their vehicle is in motion.

Just in time for Orangutan Caring Week, Audubon Zoo has raised the curtain on its new habitat for the critically endangered primates.
Audubon’s family of Sumatran orangutans recently moved to their new Asian Domain home. The expanded exhibit provides three times as much space as their former facility in the World of Primates.
New features include a moat, a cascading waterfall, palm trees and climbing structures that soar up to 45 feet, significantly taller than before. From the highest point, the orangutans have a panoramic view of much of the zoo and even boats as they cruise along the Mississippi River.
“Orangutans are the largest arboreal animals on the planet,” said curator of Primates Courtney Eparvier. “And this gives them increased opportunity to exhibit their natural behaviors.”
