Looking for a way to help out in the community this winter? Join Project EverGreen’s SnowCare for Troops, a non-profit program entering its second year that matches volunteers with military families to provide free snow removal services. SnowCare for Troops is underwritten by THE BOSS Snowplow.
Following a successful launch last year, Project EverGreen hopes to double participation in SnowCare for Troops during the 2011-12 snow season. Nearly 1,000 volunteers have already joined to clear snow from driveways and sidewalks for military families with a spouse or family member serving in the armed forces.

This holiday season, “Sons of Anarchy” star Kim Coates is teaming up with the USO to tell Americans how they can give a gift that gives twice through the USO Wishbook, the alternative giving catalog designed to support our deployed troops, military families, wounded warriors and their families and families of the fallen.
A USO tour veteran, Coates learned first-hand on his 2010 USO tour, with fellow cast members Theo Rossi, Mark Boone Junior and Dayton Callie, how tough deployments can be for our troops and their families. The Fourth of July is an excellent time to take a moment to acknowledge all of the men and women who are bravely serving in the United States military at home and overseas. Major League Baseball’s San Diego Padres and Mercury Insurance are doing more than just saluting our troops’ service, as the two organizations partnered to host a “packing party” yesterday to assemble care packages for Marines and Sailors from local bases – Camp Pendleton and MCAS Miramar – currently deployed in Afghanistan. More than 50 Mercury employees and agents, local little leaguers and Padres pitcher Ian Kennedy and community representatives stuffed 1,000 backpacks in right field at Petco Park following the July 2 Padres-Reds game.

Con-way Truckload, a full truckload carrier and subsidiary of Con-way Inc. As jcpenney sets its sights on becoming America’s favorite store, the Company has launched jcp cares, a new charitable giving program. Through jcp cares, jcpenney will support a new cause each month by inviting customers to round up their purchases to the nearest whole dollar and donate the difference to the Company’s featured charity partner. jcp cares will kick-off July 1 with jcpenney’s support of the USO (United Service Organizations), a nonprofit, congressionally chartered, private organization dedicated to lifting the spirits of America’s troops and their families. Along with round-up donations raised by customers throughout the month of July, jcpenney will be making a $1 million donation to the USO. jcpenney will also donate $1 – up to $50,000 – to the USO for each customer that checks in to a jcpenney store via foursquare from July 23-31.
