A recent survey conducted by Harris Poll on behalf of the newly-formed Coalition to Prevent Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Medication Misuse (CPAMM) finds that college students’ perceptions and attitudes towards the misuse, abuse and diversion of ADHD prescription stimulants are complex. The findings paint a portrait of students who recognize the risks of misuse, but understand why some students may choose to misuse, given the academic pressures in today’s college environment. CPAMM intends to use the findings to inform and develop educational campaigns to help prevent nonmedical use of ADHD prescription stimulants. The survey was conducted online between May 15 and June 11, 2014 among 2,056 US college students (full-time, 91%, part-time, 9%), defined as adults aged 18 to 24 enrolled and seeking a degree at a 4-year college or university and attending at least some in-person classes.1

UNCF and the Ad Council are joining Paramount Pictures to launch a series of public service advertisements (PSAs) featuring footage from the upcoming film SELMA and original music written for the film by Common and John Legend. The :30 television spot, created pro bono by Paramount Pictures, will air on television stations in donated media around the country starting this week.
The PSAs are an extension of UNCF and Ad Council’s Better Futures campaign which aims to help African American students get to and through college by demonstrating how an investment in young people is an investment in all our futures. The campaign is a focused effort to remind Americans that their investments in education can change the life of a well-deserving student, and more importantly, the lives of generations to come.

Centennial College's Heavy Duty Equipment Technician is a two-year program in which students spend the first eight months in school, eight months in co-op as a registered apprentice and a final eight months in school. With gout incidence on the rise, an increasing number of medical professionals, across multiple fields of practice, will continue to be exposed to patients who suffer from gout and are seeking an accurate diagnosis and treatment. However, despite the availability of the “Guidelines for the Management of Gout” by the American College of Rheumatology (ACR), there are many inconsistencies in how gout is diagnosed, treated and discussed by medical professionals. Conflicting messages and treatment recommendations can contribute to confusion, and even lack of compliance, on behalf of the patient – particularly when gout is connected with comorbid conditions, such as kidney disease, heart disease or diabetes.
