With farm-to-table foods, markets and restaurants popping up everywhere, it’s no surprise more than three-quarters of moms are actively looking for locally sourced options when grocery shopping for themselves and their families, according to a new survey from the National Milk Life Campaign.1 As one of the original farm-to-table foods, milk often originates from dairy farms about 300 miles away from your grocery store2, and typically arrives in just 48 hours, on average, from many family-owned and operated dairy farms. Yet 77 percent of moms surveyed didn’t realize how far their milk typically travels from farm to glass.
Moms may also have misconceptions about what happens after milk leaves the farm, including what is added to the farm-fresh beverage before it goes to consumers. More than one-third incorrectly believe preservatives are added to milk, and nearly 18 percent think sugar is added. In reality, milk is remarkably simple and contains just three ingredients – milk, vitamin A and vitamin D – and no added sugar. Another third of moms didn’t know that pasteurization is the process that kills bacteria – extending milk’s shelf life and keeping it fresher for longer, ensuring it’s safe to drink.

Today, GENYOUth announced the launch of Fuel Up to Play 60 en español, an evolution of its national flagship program. The program encourages Spanish-speaking communities nationwide to live healthier lifestyles through good nutrition and physical activity. Fuel Up to Play 60 launched a redesigned website (FuelUpToPlay60.com) that provides Spanish-language content and materials, extending the reach and access of the program to students, teachers and families across the country. Several organizations have supported the effort, including the PepsiCo Foundation, which has provided a previously announced grant of $550,000 to develop Spanish-language materials and resources. In addition the PepsiCo Foundation will provide another $100,000 for mini-grants for health and wellness activities and programming within Los Angeles Unified School District and Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
Fuel Up to Play 60, a program founded by the National Football League (NFL) and National Dairy Council (NDC), is designed to engage and empower youth to take action for their own health by implementing long-term, positive nutrition and physical activity changes for themselves, their schools and their communities. Studies show that physical fitness may benefit brain health and academic performance, suggesting active kids may do better. However, only 1 in 3 kids are active every day, potentially leaving many at a disadvantage inside and outside of the classroom.

While potatoes were introduced to Ireland in the late 16th century, cattle have been in the Emerald Isle since 3,500 BC. And corned beef and cabbage, so beloved in the U.S. for St. Patrick’s Day, is believed to be an American invention.
Dairying enjoys a proud history in Ireland, where there is no industrial farming. Cows still roam free on small family farms and graze in lush Irish pastures. From this extraordinary grass-fed diet comes milk so rich in beta-carotene, it turns butter and cheeses a natural gold.

http://debbiewilliamsassociates.co.uk/ditch_the_dairy.htm Chrones disease and ulcerated colitis. My mother suffered for over 35 plus years with this and had a colostomy bag as well after a spell in hospital in an unrelated illness she was in a coma for 9 days and when she came home through dietary changes she stopped suffering. Debbie changed her diet getting all dairy products out from cheese to pizza to cream cakes and milk . This stopped the pain as you will see in the video her mothers response when given some custard in the hospital how the pain came on very suddenly. Debbie herself steers clear of dairy as it seems to cause her to feel blocked up and other unpleasant side effects. Many people are lactose intolerant without realizing it and suffer low level discomfort from irritable bowel to cramping pains not knowing that dairy products may be causing this.Creating a meal plan for a couple of weeks and then gradually adding in one dairy based food at a time will let you know whether its a problem for you or not. Debbie's mother was able to have the occasional cream cake once a week and her body could handle it but after 6 years of following eating foods that Debbie prepared she started buying lots of junk food and eating out more often with cream cakes everyday the downfall was dramatic and despite Debbie trying to stop her this time as she had a new baby to contend with Olive went downhill fast and was dead within 6 months. There is a saying we are digging our graves with out teeth, the link above takes you to a hypnosis product ditch the dairy if you feel you are addicted to dairy foods and need help to get them out to test if this will help you. Many farmers claim that their cows produce more milk if they are allowed to listen to classical music. British scientists have found evidence confirming that theory. Their trials show that cows are particularly partial to Beethoven and REM. Now the Dortmund Concert Hall is helping 180 cows in the town of Burscheid to enjoy particularly exquisite music. The dairy cattle on the farm Thomashof are being treated to the highlights of the 2010/2011 season. Concert audiences can even taste the result in the form of Dortmund 2010/2011 Season Concert Milk.
