Today marks the 87th anniversary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This day provides an opportunity to think about ways to give back to the nation, and there are many ways to give back to one’s country. One of these ways is to preserve the resources that the nation has, and at the forefront of these resources, is energy. It is the vein that Saudi Arabia feeds on to continue its development and prosperity.
For the past three years, the demand for energy increased at a yearly rate of 8%, and is expected to increase up to 58% in the next 25 years. These figures will have an immense impact on oil, especially that 90% of the Kingdom’s revenue is generated from oil exports. While 27% percent of the produced oil is spent on generating energy.

Trigenic Flex is the latest design innovation from Clarks Originals: the culmination of over 190 years’ expertise in the craft of shoemaking. With a tradition of introducing innovative footwear to the marketplace, the brand’s unconventional, and sometimes radical, approach has resulted in the proliferation of globally recognised icons such as The Desert Boot and Wallabee®.
Continuing this ‘free-thinking’ design philosophy, Clarks fuses a shoemaker’s craft and traditions with advanced technology and innovation to deliver the Trigenic Flex; an icon in the making. The Trigenic Flex is a beautifully crafted and truly original everyday shoe with a design that is deconstructed to create a minimal and fresh look.
The Trigenic Flex takes inspiration from an original 1883 Clarks Hygiene design; stylish shoes that were shaped to the natural contours of the foot, a great contrast to the seriously uncomfortable and deforming fashions of the time. Prad Indrakumar, Senior Designer, Clarks Originals, states:
“We started by looking at the Clarks ‘Hygienic’ collection of 1883. This was a collection that allowed space for the toes of your foot to move as you walked - revolutionary for its time. We looked at how we could bring this into a modern context.”

The public is generally satisfied with cancer research progress over the past 20 years. However, they believe it takes too long for new cancer medicines to reach patients and that their countries invest too little in fighting cancer. Most fear that the current economic crisis will slow cancer research progress. This is according to the PACE Cancer Perception Index: A Six-Nation, Public Opinion Survey of Cancer Knowledge and Attitudes, released today in advance of World Cancer Day, which is recognized on February 4, 2013.
