Over 80% of Americans want to spend their last days at home, with friends and family. Yet, despite these desires, 75% of Americans will spend their last days in a hospital room. Many people will spend hours each day getting painful and often useless treatments and tests, and be asked to take dozens of debilitating drugs. For many, the cure is worse than the disease. This often has negative and lasting effects on family and friends who are often left with feelings of guilt and regret for years to come.
Hospice Support Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to promoting end of life care at home rather than in a hospital so patients can spend their last days in dignity and peace, pain-free in familiar, comfortable surroundings with friends and family.

Living with type 1 diabetes comes with many unique challenges in all stages of life. For parents of children with the condition, financial, medical and emotional worries can be overwhelming. Throughout the month of May, in honor of National Missing Children’s Day (May 25), the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children® is raising awareness about missing children with a new social media campaign called #RockOneSock. The awareness campaign invites the public to show its support for missing children and their families in three steps:
• Take a “footsie” (a picture of your feet with one sock).
• Post it to social media using the hashtag #RockOneSock.
• Challenge your friends to do the same or donate to NCMEC.

According to the Edelman American Well-Being Study released today by Edelman Wellness 360 in partnership with Edelman Berland, consumers prioritize emotional health over physical, yet 63 percent lack clarity on how to achieve emotional well-being, like relieving stress and increasing self-esteem. While consumers say they need more support to reach both their physical and emotional health goals, the study also revealed that nearly half don’t turn to others for help and 89 percent say they are solely responsible for their well-being. This leaves consumers facing a dilemma: The well-being measures people need the most simply can’t be achieved alone.

The United Nations Foundation’s Shot@Life campaign marks World Pneumonia Day, November 12, by asking Americans to raise awareness, funds and advocate to members of Congress to support global immunization programs. Pneumonia kills nearly a million children under the age of five each year and almost half of those deaths are vaccine-preventable.
“Around the world one in five children lack access to the vaccines they need,” said Devi Thomas, Director, UN Foundation’s Shot@Life campaign. “By raising awareness, funding and asking members of Congress to support global immunization programs we can ensure that every child, no matter where they live, is given a shot at a healthy life.”

T. Rowe Price's new Family Financial Trade-offs Survey revealed that parents are putting their own retirement security on the back-burner to support their kids' education and cover their own personal student loans.
After T. Rowe Price's 2014 Parents, Kids & Money Survey found that 52% of parents said it was more important to save for their kids' college rather than their own retirement, the firm endeavored to further understand how families balance the competing priorities of saving for retirement and college. The survey is based on a national sample of 2,000 parents who have a retirement account with kids ages 15 and younger.
