Pulling the silk off the all-new 2014 Forte sedan today at the Los Angeles International Auto Show, Kia Motors America (KMA) revealed a stunning European design-inspired sedan that makes it clear the Korean auto manufacturer has another winner in its line-up of sought-after cars and CUVs. Sitting on an all-new chassis that is longer, wider and lower than the previous-generation Forte, the all-new third-generation Forte will offer more room, more performance and more premium amenities when it’s expected to go on sale in the first quarter of 2013. The all-new 2014 Forte will be offered in LX and EX variants with a choice of an efficient 1.8-liter engine or a more powerful 2.0-liter engine.

Global gold demand in Q3 2012 was 1,084.6 tonnes (t), down 11% from the record Q3 2011 figure of 1,223.5t. This dip in demand is in comparison with exceptional demand in Q3 last year. Gold demand remains resilient. Q3 2012 was above the five year quarterly average of 984.7t, according to the World Gold Council’s Gold Demand Trends Report.
In value terms gold demand was 14.0% lower year on year at $57.6bn and the average gold price of $1,652/oz was down 3% on the record average Q3 2011 price.

Im Rahmen einer internationalen Presseveranstaltung hat der Panamera S E-Hybrid im Mittel über 42 Testfahrten mit Journalisten über eine Gesamtdistanz von mehr als 1.200 Kilometern nur 4,4 Liter auf 100 Kilometer verbraucht. Der Bestwert des weltweit ersten Plug-in-Hybrid-Modells in der Luxusklasse lag auf einer Runde sogar bei lediglich 2,8 l/100 km. Das zeigt, dass sich im realen Alltagsbetrieb durchaus Verbrauchwerte in der Größenordnung des NEFZ-Verbauchs erzielen lassen, der 3,1 l/100 km beträgt. Und das, obwohl die insgesamt vier vollkommen serienmäßigen Panamera S E-Hybrid jeweils mit drei bis vier Personen besetzt waren, die Klimaanlagen eingeschaltet waren und auf der Autobahnetappe auf bis zu 230 km/h beschleunigt wurde. Die insgesamt 28,7 Kilometer lange Testrunde durch und um die Stadt Hockenheim herum setzte sich aus 6,5 Kilometer Stadtfahrt, 9,2 Kilometer Landstraßen und 13 Kilometer zum Teil unlimitierte Autobahn zusammen. Voraussetzung zum Erreichen solcher Werte ist, dass die Auflademöglichkeit der 9,4-kWh-Lithium-Ionen-Batterie am Stromnetz konsequent genutzt wird. Ebenfalls in der Praxis bestätigt wurde die rein elektrische Reichweite von 36 Kilometern mit einem Verbrauch von 0,0 l/100 km und ohne lokale Emissionen, die somit nicht nur im NEFZ auf dem Prüfstand, sondern auch auf der Straße erreichbar ist. Und das sogar mit einer Durchschnittsgeschwindigkeit von 54 km/h, während diese im NEFZ lediglich 33 km/h beträgt. Rein elektrisch angetrieben ist der Panamera mit dem neuen Hybridantrieb bis zu 135 km/h schnell.

Mercedes-AMG schickt den neuen S 63 AMG ins Rennen: Die stärkste High-Performance-Limousine im Luxus-Segment setzt neue Akzente bei Fahrdynamik, Leichtbau und Effizienz. Garant für souveräne Fahrleistungen ist der AMG 5,5-Liter-V8-Biturbomotor mit 430 kW (585 PS) sowie 900 Newtonmetern Drehmoment – das stärkste Mitglied der BlueDIRECT Motorenfamilie. Durch intelligenten Leichtbau nach der Philosophie „AMG Lightweight Performance“ bringt der S 63 AMG bis zu 100 Kilogramm weniger auf die Waage als der Vorgänger. Die Kombination aus effizientem Antrieb und Absenkung des Fahrzeuggewichts führt zu einem Kraftstoffverbrauch von 10,1 bis 10,3 Litern je 100 Kilometer nach NEFZ gesamt. Auf Wunsch ist der S 63 AMG erstmals auch mit dem Performance-orientierten AMG Allradantrieb 4MATIC lieferbar. Damit ist nicht nur eine Verbesserung der Traktion verbunden – der S 63 AMG ist in seinem Segment in puncto Fahrdynamik eine neue Dimension. Bei Design und Ausstattung erfüllt der S 63 AMG höchste Ansprüche hinsichtlich Wertanmutung, Qualität und Perfektion. Die konsequente Umsetzung der Strategie AMG Lightweight Performance reduziert das Gewicht des S 63 AMG gegenüber dem Vorgängermodell um bis zu 100 Kilogramm. Erzielt wurden die Einsparungen vor allem durch den Einsatz einer leichten Lithium-Ionen Batterie, von AMG Leichtmetallrädern in Schmiedetechnologie sowie einer gewichtsoptimierten AMG Hochleistungs- Verbundbremsanlage. Zudem bestehen die komplette Außenhaut der S-Klasse einschließlich des Dachs sowie der Karosserie-Vorbau aus Aluminium. Der Einsatz einer Ersatzradmulde aus dem Formel-1-Werkstoff Carbon spart weitere vier Kilogramm. Auch beim Leistungsgewicht markiert der S 63 AMG mit 3,37 kg/PS die Spitze. Aus diesem Wert resultieren souveräne Fahrleistungen: Die Beschleunigung von null auf 100 km/h ist je nach Modellvariante in 4,0 bis 4,4 Sekunden erreicht; die Höchstgeschwindigkeit liegt bei 250 km/h (elektronisch begrenzt)
Beim großen Golf GTI-Treffen am Wörthersee enthüllte Audi seinen TT ultra quattro concept - eine Technikstudie, die minimales Gewicht und maximale Sportlichkeit vereint. Diese Sportlichkeit bekamen die Fans auch von der breiten Palette der High-Performance-Cars geboten. Neben dem legendären Sport quattro S1 standen aktuelle RS-Modelle und reinrassige Rennboliden zur Schau. Und auch der Audi R18 e-tron quattro war am See dabei. Im Mittelpunkt des Audi-Auftritts stand aber das TT ultra quattro concept. Das Showcar vereint schlanke 1.111 Kilogramm Gesamtgewicht mit einem 2.0 TFSI-Motor, dessen 228 kW/310 PS und 400 Nm leichtes Spiel mit dem Coupé haben. Aus dem Stand katapultiert sich der TT ultra quattro concept in 4,2 Sekunden auf 100 km/h. Sein Leistungsgewicht von 3,6 kg/PS liegt auf dem Niveau reinrassiger Supersportwagen. Und es lohnt sich auch der Blick ins Detail, schließlich macht das Konzeptauto den automobilen Leichtbau sichtbar. Schon das aktuelle Serienauto mit einem Karosserie-Gewicht von nur 206 Kilogramm plus 98 Kilogramm für die Anbauteile ist ein Beleg für die hohe Leichtbau-Kompetenz von Audi. Für die Karosserie des Wörthersee-Showcars haben die Ingenieure aus Ingolstadt und Neckarsulm den Audi Space Frame (ASF) der aktuellen TT-Generation konsequent weiterentwickelt und die Karosseriestruktur noch einmal um 43 Kilogramm abgespeckt. Zusammen mit den optimierten Anbauteilen ergeben sich 100 Kilogramm Gewichtseinsparung. Die Kombination aus Leichtigkeit und Sportlichkeit spiegelt sich auch in der Optik wieder. Im Vergleich zum Serienmodell haben die Audi Designer die Konturen des Showcars noch einmal deutlich gestrafft. Mit seinen großen Spoilern stellt der TT ultra quattro concept seine Motorsport-Gene zur Schau. So ist der Fuß des Heckflügels als tragendes Bauteil aus gefrästem Aluminium gefertigt, der Flügel als funktionales Element hingegen aus sichtbarem Carbon. Zu den weiteren Highlights am Wörthersee zählte der neue Audi RS 6 Avant. Das Hochleistungsmodell der quattro GmbH bietet mehr Effizienz und stärkere Fahrleistungen bei verringertem Gewicht. Und natürlich durfte auch der neue RS 7 Sportback fehlen. Sein starkes Herz ist ebenfalls der 4.0 TFSI V8 Biturbo. Die Leistung von 412 kW / 560 PS liegt im Bereich von 5.700 bis 6.600 Umdrehungen an. Zwischen 1.750 und 5.500 1/min sind konstant 700 Nm Drehmoment verfügbar. Neben dem raketenartigen Schub ist der Sound ein wichtiger Bestandteil des Fahrerlebnisses: Auf Tastendruck und beim kräftigen Gas geben sorgen schaltbare Klappen in der Abgasanlage für einen noch volleren Klang, optional montiert Audi eine Sport-Abgasanlage. Ebenso auf dem Audi Stand präsentierte sich der neue Audi RS Q3 als erstes RS-Modell in der erfolgreichen Q Familie. Es ist das vierte Modell, das die quattro GmbH in diesem Jahr auf den Markt bringen wird. Mit dem 2.5 TFSI-Motor, der mit einer Spitzenleistung von 228 kW /310 PS aufwartet, steckt ein preisgekrönter Hochleistungsmotor unter der Haube des RS Q3.

We owned a 2013 Tesla Model S for 18 months and despite numerous dealer visits and maintenance issues, we were ultimately sad to see it go. It's quick, comfortable, quiet, spacious, and can tote as much cargo as some crossover SUVs. The "85" version can go 265 miles on a charge, so range anxiety is a nonissue. We even drove ours from L.A. to New York in less than three days using Tesla's free Supercharger quick-charge network. We definitely have gripes, including some underwhelming interior trim pieces and a lack of small item storage. There's also the below-average reliability, although our dealer experiences were exceptional. So even though it's not perfect, the Model S remains our favorite electric car.
============2016 Kia Soul EV============
Kia's first real foray into the electric vehicle world is a success. In fact, the funky Soul is arguably more appealing when it swaps out its internal combustion engine for an electric motor. In our testing, the Soul EV went farther on a charge than its similarly sized and priced competitors, and then recharged quickly thereafter. It also doesn't suffer a reduction in cargo space versus the non-EV Soul, meaning it provides the utility of a small SUV rather than that of a small hatchback like its rivals. A long warranty and generous features are other benefits.

The hybrid version earns a 28 mpg combined estimate, or 7-8 mpg better than the V6-powered Highlander. In addition to that, the Highlander Hybrid offers solid build quality, respectable acceleration, a sophisticated and quiet ride quality and plenty of standard and available features.

Substantial changes last year vaulted the Toyota Camry Hybrid onto our top-recommended list. Although it doesn't quite match the fuel economy of some competitors, the real-world cost of that difference is negligible. Plus, dismissing the Camry simply because of an mpg or two would mean missing out on an otherwise compelling sedan. Comfort remains a Camry priority, but this latest Camry Hybrid also handles pretty well.
