The largest Memorial Day observance in the United States happens on the beach in Honolulu, Hawaii with the Lantern Floating Hawaii 2015 ceremony, presented by Shinnyo-en, an international Buddhist community with Japanese roots, and the locally based Nā Lei Aloha Foundation. The ceremony takes place on Memorial Day, May 25, 2015. It is non-denominational and free to the public to attend. More than 50,000 participants will set afloat 6,000 candle-lit lanterns that bear remembrances and prayers to illuminate the shores of Honolulu’s Ala Moana Beach at sunset. Dinosaurs brought busy weekend traffic to a halt on Saturday but thankfully avoided causing a tyrannosaurus wreck. Both residents and tourists of Dubai were stunned to see a convoy of ferocious dinosaurs making their way to their new home in IMG Worlds of Adventure, the world’s largest indoor theme park.
Despite being escorted by Dubai police, one dinosaur was reported missing as the caravan roared through the city. A hunt to capture the fugitive dinosaur is on! Anyone spotting it is requested to report their sighting on social media using the hashtag #SpotTheDino.
The dinosaurs are a part of a collection of sixty-nine state-of-the-art animatronic creatures created by leading Japanese company Kokoro, which are now installed at IMG Worlds of Adventure, set to open early next year. IMG Worlds of Adventure is owned by IMG Theme Park L.L.C. and comprises four zones: MARVEL, Lost Valley-Dinosaur Adventure, Cartoon Network and IMG Boulevard. IMG Worlds of Adventure will also feature a 12 screen state-of–the-art Novo cinema with 3 VIP theaters and a giant IMAX screen.

Today in Pompano Beach, Fla., The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company set the Guinness World Record® for constructing the World’s Largest Game of Cornhole to kickoff a week of celebration leading up to the 80th Annual Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic on December 31 in Arlington, Texas.
Measuring an astounding 64 feet by 32 feet, the super-sized version of the traditional tailgate game, cornhole, was paired up with another larger-than-life college football tradition—the Goodyear Blimp. As their school mascots cheered from the ground, cheerleaders from Michigan State University and the University of Alabama flew more than 200 feet above the massive cornhole game board to toss beanbags out of Goodyear’s newest blimp, Wingfoot One. The students competed for bragging rights in the larger-than-life game of cornhole as their teams prepare to face off in the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic on New Year’s Eve. The epic game ended in a 1-1 tie.

As the number of people living with Alzheimer’s disease soars, so does the number of family caregivers. Over 15 million people are taking care of loved ones with dementia in the home, according to the Alzheimer’s Association. Sixty percent say the emotional stress is high and more than a third report depression symptoms. The lion’s roar will soon return to Audubon Zoo thanks to Joy and Donald “Boysie” Bollinger.
Boysie Bollinger, a philanthropist and Louisiana shipbuilding magnate, and his wife have donated $5 million to Audubon Nature Institute that will fund design and construction of a sprawling habitat for African lions. Audubon officials say the project will spur a larger redesign of the Zoo’s popular African Savanna exhibit that opened in the 1980s.
The $5 million donation – the largest single gift Audubon Zoo has ever received from a private individual or family – was announced on Wednesday, September 14, 2016.
