The maker of Shell ROTELLA® engine oil is leading the effort to have the U.S. White House formally recognize the pickup truck as the “Official Vehicle of the United States.” To pay homage to the substantial role pickup trucks play in shaping our nation and working their way into all parts of our society, Shell is honoring the vehicle by leading a national Shell ROTELLA® campaign, entitled “Pickup Pride” which may forever change the way Americans view the pickup truck.

As the primary source of biofuels in North America, many organizations are conducting research in the area of ethanol production. The National Corn-to-Ethanol Research Center (NCERC) is a research division of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville dedicated solely to ethanol-based biofuel research projects. On the federal level, the USDA conducts a large amount of research regarding ethanol production in the United States. Much of this research is targeted toward the effect of ethanol production on domestic food markets. A division of the U.S. Department of Energy, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), has also conducted various ethanol research projects, mainly in the area of cellulosic ethanol.

Gazpromneft–Aero, an aviation fuel operator of Gazprom Neft – the fifth largest oil and gas company in Russia, increased fuel supplies to foreign airlines at the largest Russian airports up to 15,000 ton, resulting in a 35% growth as compared to 2011.
Gazpromneft–Aero sustained its status as the top retailer of the Russian aviation fuel market in 2012. The company’s total aviation fuel sales achieved 2,900,000 ton. Over 1,900,000 ton was supplied on an into-plane basis, 22% more than in 2011. The company also has its own distribution network, which is the largest in Russia including refueling facilities in 31 airports.

Today marks the 87th anniversary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This day provides an opportunity to think about ways to give back to the nation, and there are many ways to give back to one’s country. One of these ways is to preserve the resources that the nation has, and at the forefront of these resources, is energy. It is the vein that Saudi Arabia feeds on to continue its development and prosperity.
For the past three years, the demand for energy increased at a yearly rate of 8%, and is expected to increase up to 58% in the next 25 years. These figures will have an immense impact on oil, especially that 90% of the Kingdom’s revenue is generated from oil exports. While 27% percent of the produced oil is spent on generating energy.
