More than 80,000 healthcare workers and their communities from across the country and around the world joined together in the Medline Pink Glove Dance for breast cancer online video competition. After a hard-fought dance battle, the online votes are in and Medline is pleased to name Geisinger Health System, Danville, Pa., as the winner. As a result, $25,000 will be donated to their charity of choice, the American Cancer Society, providing free transportation for treatment to central Pennsylvania breast cancer patients in need. Additionally, Medline and participating hospitals will donate another $1 million to the National Breast Cancer Foundation and various local breast cancer charities nationwide. More than $2.2 million has been donated through the campaign and Medline Foundation since 2005.

Interim clinical results from Project IMPACT: Diabetes, announced today by the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Foundation, show statistically significant decreases in A1C or blood sugar levels, LDL cholesterol, systolic blood pressure and Body Mass Index (BMI), which are all recognized standards of diabetes care. Participating patients in 25 communities who experienced improved outcomes encompass almost every socioeconomic class, insurance status and ethnicity.

Lynn Napoli Marynowski and her younger brother Frank Napoli are as close as a big sister and little brother can be. They are an extension of their tight-knit family. From being raised together (along with a brother), to working together—Lynn has worked at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange for 25 years and Frank 17 years—and, to this day, still living nearby each other, their parents and brother in Chicago and surrounding suburbs, Lynn and Frank share a close sibling connection. Le compte à rebours a commencé ! Lundi prochain, la Fondation L’Oréal, avec le soutien de L’Oréal France, la Commission française pour l’UNESCO et l’Académie des Sciences, récompensera 25 jeunes femmes scientifiques doctorantes. Elles ont été sélectionnées par un Jury présidé par Philippe Taquet, Président de l’Académie des sciences et composé de membres émérites de la communauté scientifique. Chacune d’entre elles a été distinguée pour la qualité et le fort potentiel de ses travaux de recherche. A l’occasion de la cérémonie de remise des Bourses L’Oréal France-UNESCO, ces jeunes femmes (26 ans en moyenne) recevront ainsi une bourse de 15 000 euros pour les soutenir dans leurs travaux et leur carrière scientifique, domaine où les femmes sont encore sous-représentées.

Diese Aufgabe hat bei Peugeot die am 21. September auf den Markt kommende neue Generation des 308, der seit seinem Erscheinen in 2001 immerhin insgesamt 4,2 Millionen Käufer fand. Und dies dringend – denn trotz ordentlicher Verkäufe des neuen 208 befindet sich Peugeot bei uns nach wie vor im Rückwärtsgang. Bis einschließlich August beträgt das Zulassungsminus satte 28,9 Prozent gegenüber dem Vorjahreszeitraum und das bei einem durchschnittlichen Branchen-Gesamtrückgang von 6,6 Prozent. Mit einer Länge von 4,25 Metern ist der neue 308 die kompakteste Limousine ihres Segments. Auch der Karosserieüberhang fällt vorn wie hinten überraschend kurz aus, was ihm eine dynamische Optik verleiht, ohne die Platzverhältnisse im Innenraum einzuschränken. Dank des auf 2,52 Meter vergrößerten Radstands profitieren Insassen im Innenraum von mehr Bewegungsfreiheit. Das Kofferraumvolumen von 470 Litern (VDA-Norm: 420 Liter), von dem 35 Liter unter dem Bodenteppich versteckt sind, stellt nach Angaben von Peugeot einen Rekordwert im Segment dar. Darüber hinaus gibt es im Innenraum zahlreiche weitere Ablagemöglichkeiten wie das zwölf Liter große Handschuhfach oder die großen Seitentaschen an den Vordertüren.
