The National Restaurant Association’s groundbreaking Kids LiveWell program is celebrating its three-year anniversary this July, the association announced today. The voluntary program, which provides a growing selection of healthful children’s menu choices, has grown from 19 to 150 participating restaurant brands, representing more than 42,000 locations nationwide. The initiative includes quickservice and tableservice concepts among national companies, regional chains and independent restaurants, as well as theme parks, resorts and museums.

With no retirement plans in sight, Dorothy Zehnder, co-founder of the family-owned Bavarian Inn Restaurant will celebrate her 95th birthday on Thursday, December 1 doing what she enjoys the most – working in the kitchen of one of the nation’s largest and most successful independent restaurants.
“I like working,” she says. “I like to cook, and I like people. What else is there that I would like better?”
The petite and lively matriarch doesn’t look much like a modern CEO, but don’t be fooled. Over the years, Dorothy has been involved with all the family’s business operations, all located in Frankenmuth – Michigan’s Little Bavaria. Today, Chick-fil-A® launches Chick-fil-A One ™ – a mobile app that gives customers a new way to experience Chick-fil-A. The app is designed to give customers more choices to better meet their needs, including the ability to customize their meal, order and pay in advance and skip the line at the register, speeding up the process of waiting at the counter or drive-thru.
According to a recent survey commissioned by Chick-fil-A, 82 percent of millennial parents say they would do almost anything to avoid long lines at fast food restaurants when they are with their children. In fact, nearly half (48 percent) said they would rather not eat at all than stand in a line.

For the ninth consecutive year, Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar® will honor veterans and active members of the United States military by offering each a free meal at any of the nearly 1,900 Applebee’s restaurants in the United States on Veterans Day, Friday, November 11, 2016.
